Warranty with intake?
Warranty with intake?
Hey sup guys, I'm planning on installing either a CAI or SRI but the service department guy from the dealer said any kinds of intake will void the warranty. I really want the warranty but i guess i can always take off the intake at anytime and switch it back the stock one? what would u guys do?
the only way it voids it is if you put it on and the engine blows, AND they can prove that was the cause (hint: put the stock one back on before yo take it to them). If you put it on and your axle breaks they HAVE to fix it, by law. Unless, they can prove your intake broke your axle, idk how thats possible though.

On to the real answer - READ THIS FIRST. It explains how warranty law works. It explains what the dealership can and cannot void because of your intake.
Bottom line is this - if it's a serious concern to you, stay stock. The intake is not going to make your car much faster (couple HP, you'll barely feel it); is it really worth the concern? But if you're not worried about warranty, modify as you want. It's just about taking the chance.
Modding Rules to live by:
Rule #1: You mod it...you fix it.
Rule #2: Refer to Rule #1
Modding a car that's under warranty is like doing drugs: some people know the risk but do it anyway...others don't do it at all and wonder what they're missing out on. So, put yourself in either of those categories and run with it.
If you're concerned about service under warranty, stay stock and just add some decals and license plate frames. I hear an Injen decal alone can net 20 bhp!
