2008 Lancer GTS CVT 0-60 time
Over reaching Unions can be a bad thing.
But i think its not the unions that killed the American car industry but it was the government not trying to spur them to be more innovative. I mean come on, risking your entire strategy on focusing everything into pickup trucks? Smart real smart. What ever is coming, I think the US deserves it to some degree. If your company has to much huberous and think they are invincible, you have it coming. Wouldnt surprise me in 5 years Toyota or Honda or some kinda Japanese Alliance attempts to buy out one of these big three.

personally... i think it is the consumers fault.... u know if the consumers had stopped buying trucks then the companies would've done something to get the sales back by renovating new cars... look at it now.. ppl are buying more fuel efficeint cars so now everyone is advertising oooo we're getting 30 miles per gallon hwy.. but what pisses me off is that most ppl look at city..and the city still sucks... the only company that has compensated for city mpg is lexus 400Hybrid.. that car gets more city mpg than hwy mpg..
trying to keep this somewhat on topic, I think the innovations from Euro or Asia has proven that the North American companies have been at sleep at the wheel. CVT for instance is something that is starting to be adopted in full strength with Audi/Nissan/now mitsu and others.
I dont think krnkim that the consumer is to blame, I mean many of the sales are for business or self employed reasons, and ya some just buy one for personal reasons. i mean who doesnt want a truck, and have your buddies beg you to come move stuff for them.
But in all seriousness, North American Car companies are F'd and one reason why, is because the sectors that GM and FORD are dominating, slowly the Japanese are coming in and starting to eat their lunch. I am my friends father does construction for like 30 years and every 4 years he leases a new F150. This year he opted to get a Honda, and the first words out of his mouth was, HOLY S#*$, this is nice. Handling, power, style, Fuel economy. Honda let him have it for a wheel, he came back in and bought it out right. He liked it that much.
I mean thats just one point of view but alot of people are waking up to the Japanese options out there.
I think the only hope for these companies is a serious restruction and start making cars people want. I think the only section of North American companies is Pontiac, and Chevy, they are the only ones that seem like they are trying.
I think the one thing that will help the north american market is a serious reconstruction of the American tax structure. There is one Republican hopeful that has made the pledge to get rid of the IRS and create just one simplified Sales tax, around 22% or so. What this will do is do away with income tax and just have consumption taxes. The best time to do such a bold restruction is when the economy is in the crapper.

Investment would flock to the US as business and companies seek to open factors / production within the boarders. this means jobs and a lifting of wages over time as the demand for labour increases. In some ways everyone wins, Assuming the individual states dont screw up the equation. Time will tell, but unless North American companies do something, they are all doomed. more info is at http://www.fairtax.org
*disclaimer, I am not a republican, I am not even american, but Canadian but, if another republican does get elected, I would hope they support this platform.
Now back to that Mitsu Lancer CVT, ummm ya its cool, back on topic I hope? lol

i still get confused when ppl say they have the cvt manual?? is that even possible?? im confused... and
for evosoul for being informed on american politics when he lives in canada lol
Getting back to the CVT, although in nature it is a Automatic, people confuse it when they tight in the 6 fixed gear ratios they assume its a manual of some kind.
The EVOs SST transmission would be more of a true Manual then a CVT is
lol i am informed because i work as a NYSE Prop Trader so my income for the past 7 years was US dollars lol. and I am mighty pissed that the canadian dollar is so fracking high.
