RA easily upgradable?
RA easily upgradable?
Hi there, well In the process of trying to don't cry when I see that I bought a GTS when it came out, and that now we will see the Ra with way more power and 4wd.
Well I was wondering, because my plan is to get something like 320-340bhp in my lancer, I know it's gonna cost a lot and everything but that's my choice. What i'm asking now is since they say the RA will have a 'downgraded' version of the 4wd of the Evo, will they be able to handle good output power like what I want without big mod to the 4wd ? because having 300+ hp and don't be able to use it without breaking something each time would'nt be fun ! And will likely ruins is advantage.
Somebody have a guess ? (I know it haven't really been studied since it's not out but well, some ppl here have good knowledge and experiences so maybe have an idea
)

The SST is looking more and more as if it will limit the upgrade potential of the Ralliart. Those of us with CVT Lancers are in a similar boat. But obviously nobody knows for sure what the limit of its drivetrain will be yet...same goes for the '08 Lancer.
But as a general rule, you cannot add massive amounts of power without sacrificing reliability. That goes for any platform you decide to build on. What advantage are you afraid of ruining? If you're tracking the car, then more power to you...that would be a very expensive but very fun and satisfying project. If you were local I'd even lend a hand. But if it's a daily driver and you're going to dump 10's of thousands of dollars in upgrades to outrun housewives in Ford Explorers and old white dudes in Corvettes at red lights, you're doing it for the wrong reason.
I'll give you my good knowledge and experience: I've personally owned 2 AWD/turbo'd cars with lots of HP: One I was fixing and maintaining every weekend because of all the crap I did to it. The other was 90% stock and 100% reliable. Set reasonable goals and pay attention to what you buy. Everything you asked for (except for some of the HP) is already included in an EVO VIII/IX or Sti and several other cars. All of which could've been purchased mildly used for a price in the ballpark of a new GTS.
