help with intake

ok well i went to pep boys and bought a filter and a map sensor adapter plate and made a custom intake it looks like the rrm intake. my problem is that wen i drive i felt a lose of power at low rpms wen i was driving so i took it off and also it made like a poof noise once wen it was on. so i was wondering wat the poof noise was and if u think it cause any damage to my engine. 1 more thing wanted to know if this lose of power happens wit every intake or was it just that it was just my cheap intake? thank u

You shouldn't have felt a loss in power. Was your MAF sensor connected after you put on this "make shift" intake?

the poof is just the intake sucking in the air. You definitely shouldnt lose any low end power with an SRI. I would be careful with your MAF. Those things are really expensive.

How would we know? You just gave a rough description of your problem, didn't post pictures, etc.

Why didn't it fit on the adapter? You can't get help unless we know what's wrong.

How is $60 too much for an intake that works?

Buy a Mazda 3 2.3L intake off ebay. With slight moddification it will work like a champ.

if you've got to use tape to make sure it fits, then it's not installed properly imo

You might have done this already, but i would double check the direction of your sensor was it installed (with flor or against flow).

what brand intake is it? this is why i never understand. If you buy something and it doesnt work, dont mess with it, just return it or call the manufacturer.
