Which Would Be Smarter?

ok well as some of you may know i have a 98 supra also started stock and now pushes 420whp. it was my moms from way back in 97 so im not really by any means rich but my parents do pay for a lot

so lets just cut to the chase our 08 lancers arent really as powerful as we want so say that your not concerned about warrenty and you want to make your car fast would you do a engine swap? if so with what vehicle? or would it be better off waiting for the turbo for the lancer

i know most of you are thinking why didnt you just buy an evo or wait for a ralliart. well the way my parents think is that im too young to be driving a 25k+ car so pretty much i can get somthing under that and do what i want to it..so i chose the lancer

suggestions?

If your gonna do a engine swap, get the 4B11T, thats showing great gains so far from little mods and should be a pretty easy conversion. Im not sure if it would be cheaper or better to completely rebuild the 4B11 to make it potentially stronger than the 4B11T, but thats what im kinda hoping to do over the course of the next few years.

Or you could always do a 4g64 swap, thats a proven motor.

You should search this forum for engine swap threads and talk directly to the people who have done this. 98% of the people on this forum have never done one and in the end will not have the advice you need if you are serious about it.

i disagree, i'd say 99.99999%

the swap would probably cost more than the car at this point. as far as i know NOBODY has done such a swap so if you were to do it, you'd need all custom parts if the factory stuff won't bolt on as is. and how do you find out if everything bolts on? well since nobody has tried it yet you'd have to buy everything and see if it works.

If your thinking of doing an engine swap, u should think about converting to a RWD too I'm still trying to plan out how long I am going to keep my GTS, if its gonna be till it dies, I think I will consider either doing a AWD or a RWD setup and most likely an engine swap. Wait for someone to total the BMW 138i, and then put that in there lol

Engine swap is gonna be hard. Obviously you'd need custom work and fabrication to make things fit and mate up. But THEN you'd have to deal with the ECM. There's so much technology on these cars, I honestly doubt you could get an engine swap to run without paying a tech to do some voodoo.

If you want power, go with a turbo kit. It's a proven Lancer solution. And RRM's kit will be ready pretty soon. In the 7 years USDM Lancers have been around, it's been proven that an RRM kit is all you need for amazing power.
