90% sure you will spin out if you attempt to play with gear one and two like that. stick in Manual mode and focus on the road. There is a lot of traction loss in the enrita of those lower gears.

D mode no matter how hard you drive will work against you and attempt to see fuel econ, solutions to your madness, the CVT doesnt know your at the track, it thinks you want to drive like a granny 24/7.

I wish it was programed with different driving profiles

I think I read in one of the magazines, they got their best acceleration times by running it up to redline in 1, and then slipping it to D for the rest of the accel run.

Yeah use the 1st gear manual till you hit 6k then move the stick to D and it will hold the RPM's high for the rest of the run.

yeeah i was considering taking my car to the drag strip bone stock......then going again afte ra few mods

however my car is fairly new, i dont even have 1,000 miles on it yet, so i dont think it'll be a good idea lol

Hey , to the manual guys, what RPM can you get the best launch on stock yoko tires???

I figured about 3-3.5k does good for me without any wheel spin, anything over 4 and i lose traction right away

Were you stopped at the time? Launch control is a separate matter, but the Lancer won't redline when stopped AFAIK.

ya, exhaust, Its a must and the best semi cost effective way to bring the most out of your engine.

You can try launching in second gear. You will have to get your RPM up to 5k, maybe a little more, and def have really good clutch control to do this. The nice thing about this is that from I found, our 1st gear absolutely sucks...I can't get any power out of it after 4k, usually just shift out at like 3k and go into 2nd. The other nice thing is that you now have 1 less gear to shift threw. I'm sure there will be tons of people that would argue this to death, but this is my 2 cents.

Trade it in for a manual.

Seriously, when you buy an automatic and go "hey, it sucks at takeoff", it's your own damn fault...
