08 Upgrade Advice

So... I've been looking around, and Im purchasing the 08 Lancer (5 speed manual) and I was wondering what sort of upgrades would give it that extra edge it so dearly needs.. And price inquiries... I'm new to the whole upgrade scene, I do know the basics IE exhaust, intake, heads, fuel injectors, pully swaps, super/turbo charge etc BUT I really have no idea how much any of these things costs, and what kind of extra power they're going to give... Can anyone give me a basic breakdown? On brands, added HP and price?

Pretty much you got RRM, Works, Injen intakes/exhausts, K&N etc. not much to choose from. go to their sites for pricing.

You'll find great reviews throughout the forums. Read a little before randomly asking questions... it is pretty much all here...

depends on how much of your warranty you want to void... just get a drop in filter and maybe some sway bars if you get one of the non GTS models.

intake and exhaust can cost upwards or 800$. Depending on what you want. I spent 400$ so far on intake and axel back and want another 400$+ for the rrm header....so budget 1500+- for 10-15 HP at the engine if your are lucky, the butt dyno says so

After a recent dyno session, I have moved away from SRI as being the first upgrade since the power results have been contested further. I suggest the exhaust be your first upgrade. To maintain back pressure consider a 2.25" exhaust, I think RRM's is just that. If you have a 09 GTS lancer with 2.4L engine then you could possible make the jump to 2.5".

I agree with EVOSOUL, i would wait on the intake or just get a drop in filter, header and exhaust would be the best bang for your buck to start. Peformance wise there isn't too much to choose from but it is getting better with time. Sound and apperance is totally up to you. The possibilties are endless with that. Anyway, welcome to the Lancer world.

Works and Road/Race are the only companies that matter. Browse the sites for prices. If you need advice on individual parts, ask. We've got about a year's worth of knowledge on the 08 model, so EvoM members can pretty much tell you what's worth it and what's a ripoff.
