Question To cold air intake or not to cold air intake?

Hello All,

I've got the upgrade bug in me and wanted to know something about Cold Air Intake for a 2006 Mistu Lancer 2.0L.
Should I put in a Cold Air Intake system and replace my stock?
Will I notice a difference?
Is a Short Ram Intake any better or worse for this model?
Will I benefit from this upgrade in anyway increase power, increase or decrease gas millage, etc....?

Thanks

I've got a cold air intake but I'd say a short ram is more economical and you'll see the same gains. It won't increase much but you'll feel a bit more power.

$35 are the cheap ebay stuff.. not good for your car.

I've tried once, i don't know why but after a decent driving, the filter was displaced from the MAF sensor. It happened many times. so i threw it away also the filter suxxx~

I have K&N typhoon which is really nice

For the 2.0L, the cold air doesnt really make much of a difference, especially compared to the SRI. I guess the way I see it, it depends on how much you're willing to spend. Short ram is cheaper, easier to put in. But if you like the thought of having the CAI in your car, you COULD spend that extra.

oh. forgot to say. Gas mileage improves a bit, and supposedly you get a bit of extra power as well, but it's not really noticeable. Also, the CAI might be more fun to install, depending on the type of person you are.

WTF are you smoking. There are quite a few of us with DIY SRI, with ZERO problems. And it's not eBay. $10 MAF adaptor plate and $25 "Power Adder" cone, or K&N if you want for $30 more. Both can be had at Pepboys.

I'd strongly advise against the Typhoon. It is nice, but you get the same results as a DIY, which makes it a big waste of $$$.

That's the only reason I put a SRI in. I got 50 more MPT.

Bottom line is this. You're not going to get any power results whether you go SRI or CAI.

Question

All are good suggestions, I will install one just for the benefit of better gas millage, and if i get the extra boost which i don't count on, then even better!

BUT ONE MORE QUESTION.

If a a CIA is designed for cold air and the benefits of fresh cold air into the engine, What benefit does an engine have by using a SRI? Would this blow hot air from the engine compartment?

Our motors do not have the power to feel a difference.

To search or not to search? That is the question.

This is a well covered subject. You will have your fans of the CAI and your fans of the SRI. Each one has strong points and each one has weak points.
