I recently purchased a 2003 ES and the guy has a screamer on it,( I love it, the cops dont ) the day i bought it i got pulled over and warned about it, so im wondering what the best option is here. The exhaust itself is aftermarket, i dunno what, so i dont plan on changing that too soon but i want to make it a little quieter with a bit deeper tone and without sacrificing HP, MPG, all that stuff.

 

same thing happened to me when i got my evo. I didn't get warned. i got ticketed. bs i would say. either you put a silencer on it or replace it before the cops pull you over again.

 

You could put a resonator on it, that should quiet it down a bit.

 

Define screamer pipe...Most people refer to that as the external wastegate exhaust but since you are N/A...yeah no wastegate. If by screamer pipe you mean a cat delete then put on a high flow cat.

 

He didnt say anything about a pipe ripnbst. I think he just means he has a riced out exhaust.

Just get a silencer for it untill you can replace it. Or have a muffler shop put a quieter muffler on it.

 

yea its just a loud *** muffler, ive heard alot more ricey mufflers but this one is a little heavy on the rice. How much does a silencer limit to the performance if at all. Or does anybody have any recommendations on mufflers with more of a deeper tone to it?

 

You've gained zero performance from the muffler anyways, a silencer will just make it quieter.
