Intake suggestions

Unfortunately I am leasing my 08 Lancer GTS and I would like to maybe at least do some type of breathing mod for the engine. I was thinking of either a drop in filter like the one from works (easy to take out when i/if i turn in my car) or a SRI like the RRM V2 or K&N if and when that one comes out.

I know the drop in would be the easiest but i would like an SRI. Kicking myself on doing a lease

All opinions welcome

shorty's are almost as easy to install. Almost. And you can put everything back together without a trace.

Basically depends on what you're looking to do. The shorty makes the engine tone a bit more broader.

Im sure you could get away with any bolt-on stuff like a short ram intake and axle-back exhausts. That is all most people do even when they buy a car. Just throw the stock parts back on when you return the car, and post on here or ebay to re-sell them if you want.

Don't worry about leasing, I leased my last car, its exciting to get a new car to drive when the lease is up. Although there weren't any performance parts for a pontiac G6.

dont under estimate the stock box configuration, early dyno trials show that the stock box was well done, so I am sure you will benefit from a drop in insert.

Since the field of intakes are limited you should wait. if you cant, I would go with the INJEN CAI. Reason being, the SRI noise its rather excessive, and to me, just doesnt give me enough performance to put up with the constant roar.

Just ordered the K&N filter online. That is the only option right now due to it being so new, auto parts stores do not have it in stock. I have the RRM SRI, and it has just become too loud for my liking. Some people would probably enjoy the "rumble" of the SRI, but this vehicle is a DD, and my kids already talk loud enough! If anyone is interested in buying my SRI, PM me. I will take all offers into consideration. The SRI I have has about 7K miles on it. I will be doing a follow up on the drop in filter as soon as I put my air box back together and receive the filter; hopefully by next Friday!

Well with the SRI at least it would drown them out some

It definetly drowns them out when the MIVEC kicks in, and you are at 4500-5000 RPM's! Once I get the K&N drop in, nothing a little Metallica can't fix!

No experience with the Injen CAI on this Lancer, but had one on my Sportback, and it was pretty loud at higher RPM's. Not as loud as the SRI, but still new it was not stock. Only other things I have read or heard about the Injen CAI on the new Lancer is that people are actually losing HP when they dyno. That simply defeats the whole purpose of getting one if you ask me. LuDA, let me know if you get the CAI and what the difference is between it and the SRI! Thanks

You're telling here that the injen CAI make you loose Hp ?
Wow, I mean, RRm say on they website that their SRI (V1 at least) drop 1 seconde on the 0-60 wich is really good for 160$.
The choice don't seems hard to make then.

an SRI wont drop ur 0-60 by 1 second.. and the Injen didnt lose power it just didnt gain power cause he was using a RRM Piggyback.. and also 2 guys did a 1/4 mile and with SRI got a 17 and w/o SRI got a 17.1 or something like that..
