K&N has a drop available now for like 50 bucks. Fourish people on here have ordered them. I'd wait to see how they say it does instead of the WORKS one if you go the drop in way. 50 bucks sounds a lot better than 120 something. (not saying WORKS is a bad filter, just not as wallet friendly)

I should be receiving my K&N drop in filter today!!!! Using the tracking number on my order, it is just 1.5 hours away. Put my original air box back on, so just a matter of putting the filter in and see how she works. I will be doing a follow up write up tonight at work! LOL

I have the weapon-r sitting in my garage, I'll have it in tomorrow morning and will have pictures of the whole install. I'll let you know how it goes and what the differences are between stock. If i knew a place that does dyno testing I would have it done but I have no idea where to go.

As a note, I've already installed a weapon R in my wife's eclipse and she loved it. There is a definite sound difference and she says that it has more pick up but I couldn't tell since I don't drive the car regularly.

I had a WR intake on my 3. It was total garbage! I will never buy anything from them again! But this is only my opinion from my experiance. They may infact have a quality product, I just did not have a satisfying experiance with them!

Sorry for the late response, I couldn't log into the forums from home for some reason. The install is complete and I've driven around a lot this weekend. Keep in mind these are just my personal feelings of how the car has changed and only a dyno can prove fact from fiction.

The low end feels a bit more peppy, high end feels pick up a bit two, I was going from 70 to 90 on the interstate a lot easier then before. Noise level has increased greatly, not sure how it sounds from outside yet but inside it a definity difference expecially when flooring it.

Installation was a snap, I didn't really agree wtih how the included directions tell you to install, they recommend starting at the throttle body and piecing it together from there, rather then assembling the intake and attaching the whole assemble to the throttle. I think they recommend the way they do so because the strut bar might interfere.

I took pics and before and after video trying to capture the sound difference, but my usb ports are fubar so I'm having a hard time uploading, I should be able to figure something out tonight so stay tuned.

Having gone from the road race v1 to the Injen CAI and BACK to road-race's V2 shorty. I'll say the V2 seems to be more peppy then the v1 and the CAI still pulls a little bit more at the top end then the two other short ram applications i've tried.

I like the early pull of a short ram application as opposed to the top end pull of the Injen CAI.

hope that sheds some light

I agree with Evolve about the SRI pulling off the launch. Have not ever experienced the CAI on this Lancer, but now I have the K&N drop in. For $50 it is the biggest bang for your buck. The SRI might have a little more pull at the launch, or it could just be it is louder and psychologically it makes you think it is giving you better results. Still need a dyno to prove the differences between the SRI, CAI, and either the K&N drop in or Works drop in filter.

it'd be nice to see the difference between a drop-in and a short-ram.

I've felt the Cold Air/ Warm Air difference. But i've never purchased/experienced Drop-ins.

Perhaps the fellas at RRM can get a K&N drop in and dyno it on a stock Lancer, and compare that to there own SRI. If the gains are in there favor, it will only help them sell more intakes!!!!

doubt it.

check any thread on any car forum. If the "gains" are posted by the company trying to sell stuff you have people saying "yea but what do you EXPECT the gains would be? The company would be stupid to make themselves look bad."

It's not in any companies interest to do a side-by-side unless it's filmed live or something. People are naturally skeptic. Regardless of what company posts results
