NA Engine setup

just setting this up to help out for guys who want to beef up the engine/fuel/electrical system....ok, here it goes...

as far as engine goes, camshaft from RPW works, unorthodox racing is making some custom pulleys, RPW might have some adjustable cam gears ready pretty soon, RPW headers work, RRM or RPW throttle body, just check out RPW for anything further on rocker arms, vavle springs, intake manifolds, and QTB's..

...fuel system so far is not really a big mod section but heres some parts....accell fuel injectors 195CC's for more full flow, RPW has some fuel injectors, RPW adjustable fuel regulator, AEM universal fuel pressure regulator, Holley universal adjustable fuel pressure regulator

.....electrical system....well, MSD ignition either DIS-2 or SCI, replacemtn MSD coils, spark plug wires from shark racing, probably crapy but they work, NGK sprak plugs are supposed to be the best for our car, and nology might make some hotwires depending on the ignition power. VEnom control module works but i doubt you want one since i hear they dont do much

Clutch and flywheel from RPW also are a good mod, this post was pretty pointless but i think that people could use the info and if anybody has anymore mods to put down as far as engine goes, heres a thread.

As for the fuel system, you might might want to amend a bit.

Mine 1.8 uses (approx) 210cc from the factory (gotta find the link that dudeinamirage has given his injectors for flow testing - results, if I remember correctly, Mitsu averages the rating like CDROM companies w/ its speed). Also, the 4g64 from the 3g eclipse 4 banger runs 240cc (same thing as above mentioned stuff). Otherwise, you still need a S-AFC to control the amount of gasoline flowing into each injector w/o flooding the cyl.

Another thought, you might want to use the 2g GSX fuel pump (they are pratically one of the first few mods to be yanked out). The fuel pressure is a bit higher than my stock fuel pump. Of course, I don't know if the Lancers use the same fuel pump as the 1.8 or the 2.4 4g64.

On electrical stuff, it has been verified by 2 people on the mirage board that the DIS-2 from MSD does not work on Mitsu system. Mitsu doesn't want you to tamper w/ it. Only A'pexi ITC work . . . one guy on our board has installed one on his 4g93.

Don't know about coil packs. It's Mitsu proprietary equip. I don't think MSD is willing to pay a royality. As for Venom, don't now if it really works.

Magnecor wires on the 1.8 4g93 should be the same as the 4g94. The price is skyhigh, because Magnecor has to pay royalty to Mitsu for improving their design a bit.

Since the 4g94 is in the same engine block family (4g9x), you can actually use a flywheel from a 4g92 MIVEC DOHC from JUN or other makers.

I do believe the clutch uses the same setup as the eclipse . . . can't remember which model or gen . . . gotta look it up.

I'm sure when dudeinamirage sees this . . . there will be some corrections.

Amendment: The mirage with the 1.8 from 97-01 has DIS-2 while the 1.5 don't. The 2.4L from the 3g has a DIS-2 too.

I appreciate the post. I think I'm in the handful of people who want to remain NA and still squeeze out a little bit of power. I've a few ideas, but no money. Working on that.

The SCI won't work remember? No distributor on the Lancer, that is of course, you're talking about a Mirage in here to.

Even that ignition won't work for the Lancer due to the fact that it's distributorless! Eek!

The DIS-2 will work, not the SCI or the HKS unit though...

Hmmm.....I still wonder whether or not when you replace the Igi, if you should in turn replace the coils while you're at it.

Despite what MSD has stated, it won't work on Mitsu DIS-2 system. 2 people with the 1.8 tried it and failed. They wind up trying to sell it. Unfortuantely, I don't know why. I've never really asked them.

Only the A'pexi ITC - a person tried it and worked on Mitsu DIS-2.

As for the coil packs, I don't think any company makes one for Mitsu . . . maybe for another car company, yes.

Bah, didn't even see the edit to your previous post bahamut. Interesting. Do you happen to know why it won't work with the Mitsu equipment?

I don't why. Someone did call MSD about it, but I can't remember what was the reponse. I can ask my board about it . . . it has been about 6 month or so ago.

I don't know much about the ITC (cost-wise) . . . checkout the link. It's a piggyback, just like the S-AFC. A'pexi made it to work off each other.

Speaking of the S-ITC. Why is it I can't find it anywhere? Anyone happen to have a link available for it? Or actually just truely know of its existance?
