pretty much what the title says.... i just installed a RRM header, obx racing flow through cat and magnaflow catback. now i get this loud whistle everytime i get on the gas hard. it sounds like the CAI might be suckin harder from inside the car while driving but when i pop the hood and flutter the throttle i cant really hear where it comes from. any ideas???? a loose header bolt wont make a whistle noise right??

well the intake does make a noise cause its a intake sooo it might be a bearing? um..could be a loose bolt check them all make sure they are tight but not to tight to strip them. check for exhaust leak from exhaust and header manifold

all the bolts are tight at the manifold, header to downpipe, downpipe to cat, and cat to catback....

i think i'm just gonna leave it as a noisy CAI.... nothing seems out of place or wrong upon multiple inspections. i guess we'll see in like 100 miles or so if it is a leak right??

what kind of CAI do you have?

i had like a whistle noise when my manifold was loose.

AEM CAI.... i'm thinking of loosening everything back up and re tightening to ensure they are all tight. the only bolt that isn't in it the one securing the header to the engine/trans mount. there is about 1/4 inch of space between the two and i bought the header used so i didnt get supplied with the bolt. i cant imagine thats causing anything though.

i'm gonna check the CAI connections too now that i think about it just to make sure none of the connections are leaking either

on my way to work this morning i tried something.... i didnt get on the throttle a lot and i couldnt hear the noise all the way through the gears. if i get into it is when i hear the 'whistle' noise. i dont know if this helps anyone reading this but it seems to me that it really could just be a noisy CAI....

it may be a noisy CAI, i guess if its not that we're all gonna have to wait and find out

yea i dont like the idea of not knowing really whats causing it but all i can do is wait.....

maybe just an exhaust leak? try retightening all the exhaust flanges.

Check your PCV system.

It sounds to me like a bad pvc valve on the valve cover. You might want to check that out.

i just replaced the pcv valve on the cover about 4k miles ago....it cant be bad alreayd can it??? what else in the pcv system could it be if not that?

i did tighten the bolts on the header/dp connections and they were a little loose but nothing major. no real noticable change in the noise

my short ram intake whistles... it might just be normal.

my friend had a problem with his car similar to this, he had a whistling noise coming from his car when he installed a catback exhaust and headers, he found out it was due to air leaking through the flex pipe at the end of his downpipe because he still has a stock downpipe and once he changed that out it was gone,

dont know it could be similar cause it definitely sounds like an exhaust leak if you ask me, just my opinion
