Vacuum hose to intake?

Vacuum hose to intake?
On the intake I have now, there is a peice that allows you to connect the tube from the head, I'm assuming it is some sort of vacuum hose, but I'm not possitive. On the intake I want to put on, that isn't there. My question is... Is it vital that this is hooked up? Or can I replace the hose with just a little breather cap?

It runs like crap, especially at idle.
Just do it so the breather line stays connected. An intake only produces gains at WOT. How often are you at WOT? Now let me ask you this... How often are you at idle?
