Help! 03 Lancer ES ((Bad Sensor))

O.k., I got a 03 Lancer ES and the check engine light just came on. I ran it on the Dino and my Bank 1 Ox. Sensor is bad. My local dealer said $400 for a new one!! Does anyone have any idea where I can get a good o2 sensor for my ride that isn't going to cost me a fortune??

Thanks in advance for any help!!

It's the simplest thing to install ever.
You probably don't have a socket designed for o2 sensor, so you've got 2 options to remove the current one.

First of all, disconnect the sensor harness
Option 1: Use an open box wrench
Option 2: Get a decent size pair of vise grip, get the claws on the sensor very very tight so you don't strip it and get the s*cker off
Now, put in the new sensor, connect the harness
Take your daughter for a sweet ride to the nearest ice cream place.

I was looking at the ones you can wire yourself, do you just wire it into the old snap-on clip??

I wouldn't do that. Sensors like that are picky.
But hey. the price difference is nearly 50$, so why not give it a shot. Just wait for other people's review before you go ahead.

Is the color coding on the wires universal?? Also If I dont wire into the old clip do I cut the Female clip and use butt-splices with some heat shrink tubing over it??

I got mine from advance auto... Don't remember the price, but it was like $50 or so... The clip was included so I just unplugged the old one and plug the new one in there.

If you use a snap on connector, make sure it's heat rated, you don't want it to melt and break the connection.

I don't know if mine is heat related or not but it's been in there for a over a year and has been subjected to the heat of a turbo manifold....

I think 03_lancer_es what talking about the hardware he'd use if he was to cut the wires and manually put them back together.
