i have the red filter so thats a k&n? it says injen on it

 

Is that a Hydro-Shield or the filter itself?

 

the filter itself is red i dont have a hydro shield.

 

My last Injen CAI had a red filter as well. I am not sure if they have a deal with K&N with there filter parts, or if Injen just happens to shadow the K&N look because people are so familiar with their product. I would recommend getting a hydro-shield with the winter time coming up; they are fairly inexpensive, and it is worth the piece of mind. I do also know that when I spoke to Injen about cleaning the filter, they said I could actually use the recharge kit made by K&N. So take it for what it's worth. Either way, you have a good lasting filter!

yeah thats k&n or atleast its an OIL filter and not a dry filter.

 

... I don't get it... Injen makes their own filter.... why would they use K&N filter..?? You confused me....

um... that I'm not too sure... never use after-market filter yet...(going to update stock next summer...^^)

but for what I understand... it should be oil filter and dry filter....

For dry filter, you simply replace everything it's dirty...

For oil type, you can wash it with the cleaning kit and re-apply oil to it once it's dry....

No idea about the performance difference them...^^

 

^ Just make sure when you re-oil the "wet" filter, you do not over do it. Too much can lead to gumming up the MAF sensor, and causing more harm then good! Just lightly spray it with the oil, and do not saturate it.

Wet filter is the one that can be "recharged" with the K&N kit. A dry filter can be reused as well, just needs to be cleaned, like vacuumed. You theoretically could "wash" a dry filter - just make sure you let it completely dry as you wouldn't want excess water going through the MAF or into the turbo housing. The typical recommended solution is to clean it with a vacuum.

 

thanks for the info, so all i have to do is shink the filter into the recharge kit with water and the water will have oil in it?
