Question 2002 OZ Rally oil leak

i have a 2002 lancer oz rally and i jsut got it about 2 weeks ago. and i noticed that it has a moderate oil leak. the whole front (underneath the header) of the motor is basically coated as well as the underside of the motor. i was wondering if there are any common problems with these motors like leaky cam seals or something like that. please help. thank you

simple answer no. you just need to make/get a new gasket. go to you local auto parts store and get a new oil pan gasket or some black rtv silicone and make your own gasket. that will solve your problem

what i was saying is i dont know why its leaking. if it was the oil pan gasket then why would basically the whole motor be coated?

what do you mean all over? it could also be a head gasket if its "all over." i wouldnt rule that out.

These cars commonly leak from the valve cover gasket which would make everything dirty with oil .

My money is on the valve cover gasket, its very common on most mitsus for the valve cover to leak. and that would have the oil running down the front of the engine. Change that, clean up the engine and go from there
