Headers/cat-back exhaust good idea?

Hey guys i drive a 09 lancer gts auto. i just recently got injen CAI n im loving it. I now want to get an exhaust and thinking RRM headers. But before i get it i would like opinions of people who already installed them and would like to know if it made a diff and if i should get it. And please tell me the diff of exhaust. Im a newbie and was thinkin cat-back magnaflow.

Are these things gona give me any problems?

Seeing as your from NY...you most likely have a PZEV lancer. You can still get a header, which is by the way a nice decent modification, you just need the PZEV adaptor RRM offers because of the pre-cat. Just be warned that you will most likely get a CEL.. You will then probably have some problems passing inspections cause emissions have been messed with.

PZEV = Partial zero-emissions vehicle, and a CEL is an error code you will get from a senor being tripped. You shouldn't have any problems with damage, just make sure all of your bolts and gaskets are tight otherwise you're going to get a leak. I have an Injen full cat-back on my car and noticed that it lowered my low end torque. Since you have a CAI, you should notice better gains, as I only have a K&N high flow drop in. It's going to be a loud setup either way, so you will be getting increased attention from the cops (I have yet to be pulled over though). Be very careful with RRM, I have heard their flex pipes have come apart very frequently. Not only that, you can more than likely find a cheaper header as RRM over charges for everything. If you check out the Toronto Lancer Club on this forum, I think evo_soul is selling his header for a good price. The only bad thing I've heard about MagnaFlow is that a batch of their mufflers for our car rusted out in good driving conditions (aka, no salt and in Florida) after 3 months. Otherwise, I haven't heard anything bad.

headers will give u a better final speed but u would lose on that 0 to 60 range , i got mine but im not crazy for them ill sell them as soon as i get my turbo installed , also we deff need backpresurecuz , i have a qtp exhaust cut out right after the header flange , and when i open it , i loose a lot of launch reaction

I don't know about it because I am using a injen CAI, still working good to me and don't want to change it.

let us know how the magnaflow sounds. I am trying to decide between the MF cat back or the kit that borla makes for us. I know borla sounds great on a V8, just not sure about a 2.0L.

This reply may be too late, but I can tell you that I have the RRM Header and Intake and I noticed a big difference. In fact I went from 125 WHP stock dyno to 140 with the header, intake and exhaust. I went with the A'Pexi N1 axel back. Not crazy with the big size of the tip especially since I'm dropped 1.8" in the rear (and that last sentence sounded really bad)

I have never had a CEL or any issue for that matter. I live in NJ. And I noticed a definite increase in 0-60 as well as top end.
