Exhaust Questions (Helping Friend)

I'm a Chevy guy so I don't know much about the Lancers. I'm trying to help my friend with a header system and hope I can get some straight foreword info from some of you..

1) What maufatures are there for headers for a 2002 Lancer OZ edition?

2) What is needed when installing a header? Besides the Gaskets and bolts are there O2 extensions or anything special?

3) Is there a way to bolt a header to the stock exhaust pipe? He has a magnaflow weld on muffler.

Thanks in advance..

road race motorsports, rmr, kamikazi all have headers for the lancer....i do believe you need to relocate the o2 sensor and should bolt right up to the stock exhaust system....hope this helps

Also don't forget RPW who make the longest primary header systems of all teh designs. If you are into Chevies then you are aware of the different designs of headers.

The RPW ones come with a down pipe and are a tuned length mandrel bent 4-1 system with the primary headers 35" long on average for lots of low rpm torque and top end horsepower.

Do you have a link to the RPW, RMR or Kamikaze header?

The RPW sounds like the best performing header being equal length and mandrel bent. What kind of collector does it come with? Is it a standard 4-1 collector type or is it a merge collector?

///RRM

RMR

sorry, I can't remember who sells the RPW ones, but those links should let you view pics and descriptions of the other ones. And I'm sure someone will post a link to RPW soon.

i saw an rpw header that was used for 1 week, hahah what a joke, all i can say is either the coating was spray painted on or that stuff flakes off at anything higher than 100 degrees.

I think it is a merge collector.

in case you haven't found the other threads on these, all of these headers replace the first cat, so they won't pass smog in many states. But I hear installation and removal is a snap, so many people are going with the remove and reinstall every 2 years to pass smog route. Just fyi

From what I am hearing on the RPW, the finish might not be the best, but if it is a merg collector type, it sounds like it might be the best performing.

BTW, Maybe I am blind but I can't find the headers on the links urbanknight provided.. Thanks for trying though..

on RRM's site click on lancer then drivetrain and you should see it. It is almost at the bottom.

I dont think RMR has a header.

Vision Imports and DRC Imports are both registered RPW authorized dealers. In fact they're the only two I'm aware of in the US. All Header designs are 4-1 at present. Only Kamikaze and RPW come with a downpipe, and RMR (So I've been told) ceased production due to low demand. From what I saw (I believe Dewey has one on his car) it was quite nice, but it cost a pretty penny.

Has anyone dynoed the RRM or Kamikaze header yet? I still want to see a comparison to RPW's 17whp gain. Not so much for peak numbers as shapes of powerbands.
