Lancer ES '10 CVT vibration on drive idle
Same issues
First some background, I first noticed this right after the whole electric system failed, and the car wouldn't start, or even lock the car without closing it manually. I took it to the dealership and used my warranty and got this chip replaced, and everything else is working fine.
I've had my lancer for only 6 months now, and just after this chip problem, I noticed the passenger seat visibly vibrates when I am on a stop light and in D mode. I am not sure if this is the way it has always been, or if I just noticed this now.
It seems to be related to the seat's position, if i put it all the way back the vibration is reduced significantly, however when it is in the middle and reclined the vibration is easily visible and can be felt easily on the top of the seat.
I took it again to the dealership and they are telling me this is normal, and is related to low rpm while on drive. This only happens on stop lights. They even had another lancer there that did exactly the same thing, so I am wondering if both cars have something wrong, or if this is the way they are.
Has anyone noticed this problem?, you have to be looking at the seat at the stop sign and D mode, otherwise you won't notice as the vibration is relatively small and it does not make any sound.

What your describing sounds like what my tech guys call the Shiver.
What your in D mode if you look at the RPM needle you will notice that that when your car moves forward anywhere from 5 MPH or faster then then come to a near or full shop the RPM need will dip as low as 500 RPM for about a second maybe 2 seconds then return to a normal RPM of 700 or so.
Why this happens isnt always clear but it mainly has to do with MIVEC. By design the technology behind MIVEC allows for adjustments having to do with Idle, low speed, and high speed. The CVT + TQ converter plays a part in this process as well.
A custom exhaust that harms exhaust flow can amplify this "shiver".
