Let me hear some opinions...

So I have read through tons of posts about engine swaps and "how do I do this, and how do I do that" kind of stuff, but I just want to know what some of you think would be the wisest decision to get the most power out of my 2002 es without spending a ton of cash. What motor swaps are the most practical? Im sure ill get flamed for this but im not asking for a book of info here. 4g64 motors seem really easy to grab around my way so that was what I was leaning towads. I know it wont be an evo and thats not what I want (until I can afford to buy one), I just want a quick street car. Thanks

7-8 psi is low, I am now at 13 psi on stock internals fully tuned by me and I get on it hard all the time lol. Let me tell you its FAST for what I have into it. Havent been dynoed yet but I know I am pushing some good power. As OZR already said turbo is hands down most cost effective way to get any real power to your car.

Yeah I did a lot of research on putting the turbo on it, I just wasn't sure if my motor was really worth putting all that money into. I saw a 64 motor on eBay with turbo for like $1500 bucks. I'm just trying to fully decide if it would be more practical to keep this engine and start nodding it and turbo it or just do a swap. I guess basically what I wanna know more about it either turbo-ing what I have or swapping motors. Thanks for the info tho guys. Any input is appreciated. I'm thinking turbo and performance head and rebuild internals. I just don't really know what kind of power people are really getting with this engine.

Its all about how much faster you want it. with my current setup I have beaten mustang gt's so I mean you know its pretty quick. Another member on here RyanCB I have been working on his car we have swapped in a built bottom end, stage 1 cam, big 16g turbo with all the needed components. By the time we are done tuning we will be looking at 15-20psi and easily 300+whp. That my friend is alot of power for a dd lancer.

Yeah that is a lot of power for a dd, if you could just ballpark it, how much money you think he's got tied up in the engine alone?

Realistically the turbo build without the engine upgrades is about $2000. I'm at $1279.85 and I'm about half way thru the parts.

I've been looking the best I could for used evo 8/9 parts but it seems when your looking for something specific it tends to get harder to find LOL

I spent like 2200 on all the turbo, tuning cable, exhaust, bov, intercooler and piping, oil fittings, fluids, gauges including wideband, timing belt/tensioner, ceramic coating, exhaust manifold, downpipe....and lots of other little things. If you do a built motor to go with that you might spend another 2k, then if you REALLY want a beast, another 1k on LSD....and you will have a sticky little 300hp+ car that is way lighter than a evo or swapped 4g6x.

Oh...edit...I am at 6psi right now, 150hp 150 torque
