Clicking from engine!!

Ok, I've been having this problem for a couple of months now.

The engine keeps making a fast clicking sound. I've read through a lot of forums and some say its like that. That it is the injectors. I still haven't taken it to the dealers because they don't really help much.

Has anyone have this problem or solution? I'm gonna try to upload a video on youtube with the engine sounds. Can someone please take a listen.

How many miles on it? Could be valve lash (needs adjusting).

I have gotten a few emails about this on my blog in the past month, more recently in the past week.

It will likely be due to the colder weather. Our motors are not very quiet, especially when your warming up the car first thing in the morning. Even fully warmed up, it isnt very quiet. Some dealers have made the switch to 0w20 oil which isnt terribly that much different in terms of weight at operating temperature, but it can contribute to noise.

If you are due for an oil change. Make the switch to a 0w30 or 5w30 oil and see if that significantly reduces engine noise. If so, then you have your answer that it isnt anything to worry about.

It doesnt hurt to have your deal look at it. But I am not sure they will tell you anything useful without getting more invasive.

Lancers are notorious for the ticking sound that comes from the motor. It is not a big deal unless the tick shifts to a different sound not normally heard.
It does get louder if you change oil viscosity, in cold weather while it warms up, or if the timing needs adjusted.

It's been that way since the older model Lancers, that faint tick just comes with the package. Nothing wrong unless it changes its pitch, speed, etc...then you may have a problem.

If you notice no difference in performance, and you are under warranty for the next while... whocares. If it throws a code for some reason, then bring it in
