WOW...it is good to know someone out there understands the fundamentals of an engine besides an automotive student. I have 2 weeks until graduation before I start full-time (as opposed to part-time) at BMW. Congrats on all of your hard work and keep it up!

Man forgot about that this thing! LOL... funny thing is I have one of the most modified and potentially powerful Protege's in the U.S. now and run my own motorsports company... this thread was part of my beginnings of my learning and loving of all things engine

it's funny... i've seen similiar work just recently. One of my buds did the exact same experiment with turbo compressor efficiency. He's going to Cummins diesel engineering school so you can see why he did the turbo point of view.

His paper focused on "backpressure" in correlation to proper turbo sizing in order to creat a great spooling turbo that was neither to small or to big for the current engine being designed. This info follows basically the same lines.

Good info and great paper... hope your grad reflects that!

yes they are... the smell stays with you though. Only part i didn't like. They are super easy to work on though. Their transmissions are what can be hell. Damn they are intricate.

Yeah, I overhauled a Clark and an Allison I think it was for class and the biggest pain in the *** was doing the auxiliary section in the back. The whole project took 3 6 hour days. I don't mind the smell at all, I love how diesel fuel smells.

As long as I keep myself clean it's fine. I use latex gloves to keep my hands soft. It doesn't matter because I don't work on diesels right now, I work for BMW so the only diesel they have is the 220d in Europe.

not all thread resurrections are bad. A lot of time old/good stuff gets forgotten about. But yeah, doing a Lazarus for no actual reason is no good...
