Help identify this part embedded

I have no idea what this is but I'm thinking about replacing it. There's oil running out of it. I'm quite sure that isn't supposed to happen. It's located on the block closer to the valve cover I believe facing the firewall.

looks like a knock sensor, or oil PSI. but if its in the block, its probably a knock sensor, there shouldn't be oil running out of it as they fit into a machined hole.

I have confirmed that it is in fact a knock sensor. Not sure it's oil but I'm assuming it is. Read around the internet that it's actually some goo that runs from the sensor when it's had it's time, however there's no cel

There will not be a cell this is a one wire sensor so it does not check itself.

That's insane that they set it up that way. How will I know it's bad besides a visual inspection? I doubt that it wouldn't eventually cause the check engine light to illuminate.

the check engine light "CEL" only will illuminate due to problems that effect emissions such as. misfires, lean, rich, and many other or a system that monitors emissions. if its not atleast a 3 wire sensor it cant know if its working "correctly" or not and i say that loosely. cause the sensor can still be bad and not throw a code or cel.
