Question about Intake
Question about Intake
the first mod for my car, when i get the money, will most likely be intake.. the three that i'm looking at are AEM, RMR, and Injen.. i already have pictures and audio of RMR so i don't need to know much about it.
can anyone with AEM and injen post pictures of where the filter is placed, because i haven't seen many and that is my main concern, don't want it to be sucking up hot engine air. also maybe an audio file of how it sounds, if possible..
right now i'm leaning toward rmr for price, but i'd like aem because of the air bypass valve..it rains a lot around here..thanks a lot.

Here's a pic out of my friends (djphattroc) car. This shot is without the headlight from somewhat of an overhead shot:

The sound out of the Injen is a very clean, deep sound. From what some friends that have this intake in their car say, you can feel a little bit of a difference.

you can fit the ABV on the injen. the injen looks the best IMO and it was $199 at adventon.com but the price went up to $205 for some reason. no sound clips but i can tell you this. the injen is really deep above 2500RPM (estimate) all the way up to 5.5kRPM (estimate) you can hear it with the windows up and the radio on. it sounds sweet. the only way i'd get a short ram (by the way its not a short ram, because there's no air being RAMMED into the intake, never understood that
) is if i was turbo'n my car (cuz air would get cooled through my FMI) or if i had a hood scoop to feed fresh air to the filter. hope this helps your decision making.
EDIT: oh yeah and for pics just search the registry, theres a bunch. PS AEM looks the same as INJEN

CHeck out RRM, Jeff. Lot of Lancer stuff including intakes! Will probably have AEM's too starting this week.

The RRM intake is nice.
Have it in my car an it has a very deep sound an up around 4500 rpms you can feel a little extra TQ kick in as with the airbox you'd be lucky to get that high with the normal foot on the gas..
With the airbox an that air robbing filter.. The car never wanted to run up in high rpms until I put the RRM short ram in. Just alot more smoother of a ride all around.

I don't have any way of putting pictures or sound on but, I can tell you that I am very happy with my Injen CAI. I would not put A short ram or any othere intake on that has the cone filter under the hood.
The injen CAI comes under were battery is. If you look at your car from the front you have three air dames in front one in the middle and two little ones on the side. The injen cone is behind the drivers side little air dame . You have to take the little air dame plate off there are no holes in it.(easy to take off two screws.)It looks good you can see the cone in there and sounds even better.

Yea i agree, I have injen and i am very happy with it. The sounds is amazing, and all i get is compliments from my friends. There is a slight gain in power too, i can feel it. To me, it was a bit tricky to install, but worth every minute. INJEN!!!
well, if u goto http://injen.com/faq.html they have the faq page where the question is brought up. They claim, a bypass valve can be used for any 2.50", 2.75", and 3.00" pipping. So yes....yes it can.
No Check engine light if u unplug ur battery before the install.
and yes, the mass airflow sensor is reattached to the injen CAI, can't speak for the AEM. i'd assume it'd have to be there. hope this helps
