Question Parts/Mods wanted, but not available?

Okay, I've been lurking on Lancerforums for awhile. Most of what I've gathered is that only a few companies make parts...

There seems to be a dilemma here. Buyers wait, and want parts, but there are not many manufacturers that give a damn about the US Lancer.

What I'd like to do is find out what people want the most, and what kind of prices they'd be willing to pay for it. There has got to be a reason that not a whole lot of aftermarket is available, but I'm not sure why.

So far, I've gathered that basic intake/exhaust and basic suspension is pretty high on the list, as well as turbo kits. A good friend of mine owns a shop, and is willing to make parts, but he asked me to find out what are the most desired items. It should be fairly easy to manufacture an exhaust, probably sway bars and s.t.bs also.

I'm not trying to plug my friends shop, but he *does* know his sh*t, he is the guy who had the first AWD Spyder (RRE worked extensively on the car). I'm just trying to help make a few extra parts available for the US Lancer until the EVO gets there.

Thanks,

-M

you must have not looked hard enough because all the parts that i ever wanted people already make. I know of 4 exhaust, at least 4 intakes. Someone makes headers. and also there are springs and sway bars. plus other things. also when i get my turbo im gettin it from rrm since they seem to know there ****. i really cant think of anything that i personally would want that someone doesnt already make. well there is one thing and thats a carbine fiber hood. that would be nice. oooh and a performance chip. and the reason why there arent a lot of companies making things for lancers i think is because this is the first year theyve been out in the US. i think since all the 03s are coming out more companies will see that they are staying the same and will make more ****.

Carbon or carbine?

Mitsubishi has soldered their chips since MY 95 I believe so good luck putting in a new CPU. It'll take a lot more work than it's worth especially considering there's really no need for changing the CPU with the few performance mods available.

I think perhaps a performance camshaft, cam gear, and a nice pully set would be nice. There's a lot to be desired imo.

Actually, I have looked around, and personally I wouln't buy any of the parts made for the US Lancer other than some of the stuff that RRM has, and the only reason is 1) I know RRM, and 2) They do quality work and don't charge 200% more than necessary.

*shrug* I was just hoping that maybe people would be interested in another exhaust or intake setup that didn't cost 200+ bucks... Maybe I was wrong and people just want to spend their money on whats already there. Obviously there is a *huge* market for the Lancer...

4 Exhaust and 4 intakes, that's not a whole lot of options.

If you can fab up a brand spankin' new intake that sits higher than the Injen (say behind or right underneath the battery), an exhaust manifold, full cat-back, a lightened flywheel, uprated clutch, mild profile cam, lifters, valve springs, cam gear, pulley set, ...

Get valve springs and heavy duty lifters to go with that. Only problem with uber-aggressive cams is they kill your idle (lumpy), especially when you only have one. Oh yeah, a really show mod that I'd want is a carbon valve cover.
