Engine replacement
Before I say anything, yes I read the tech article about how its gonna cost us to mount the 4g63 into our cars. I have a buddy who has a 3rd gen eclipse Gs model. His car has a 4g64 and is rotated like ours. intake on right and exhaust on left when you look at it. I thinking we could swap this in our cars. Granted its only 140 to the wheels, and only 2.4L inline 4 but its a swap we could do.
The cool thing is Road Race Engineering works hand in hand with 3G owners like Rock does with us. So we could turbo the snot out of the engine and do other fun things.
Anyhow its something I thought up when I was bored.

IMO, it would probably be quite a bit of work for not a whole lot of extra power.
I imagine the cost would come extremely close, if not waaaaay over, the price of RRMs turbo setup.
RRM does good work. I trust anything they're willing to back. Besides, at only 6psi, the T28 isn't even breathing yet. It will take some time, and probably a built bottom end, but eventually we'll see some serious power...

Yes, there is a guy in Ft Lauderdale, FL who is doing it. He has some fabrication issues now. He has a manual car but bought a motor from a slushbox.
The starter on the 4g64 is on the tranny while both 1.5L and 1.8L is on the block itself. There is a good chance the Lancer's starter is the same as the mirage.

Also, if you do such a swap, you can do a hybrid when the E7 or 8 comes to the US. Grab its DOHC cyl head w/ ECU . . . presto, a 2.4L Stroker EVO motor (also, get all the TC stuff and possible need to drop in CR).
Remember the 4g64 is the same engine block family as the 4g63 . . . also, its T-belt faces the right way too.
Also, JUN has their stroker version of the EVO engine kit too.

Instead of swapping out the entire motor why not just swap heads. DOHC alone will boost up HP but then you need some computer enhancements since the lancer comp is SOHC and the DOHC would put more fuel in....but thats just another idea...something i'm thinking about doing.
