Question Lancer's and Mirage's chassis'

Hey guys, this is a question i've been wanting to ask.

Are the chassis' of the 96-01 Lancer and (i think it's whithin the same years) Mirage the same? To the point that most parts such as the Engine, Springs and shocks interswappable?

I'm thinking on getting Mirage parts for the 2001 Asian Lancer, but i'm not quite sure if they are compatible. Thanks!

Mitsu still makes the mirage? I haven't seen a new one since the 90's.

Bahamut will be the guy with the for sure answer, but I'm going to go with a no. They were little 2 door coupes, we have slightly bigger 4 door sedan's. So as far as in the US not they aren't the same chassis, but there are overseas models that very likely are the same.

The answer is no. The Lancer has had pretty much the same chassis for quite some time. The Mirage was known as a Lancer overseas, and the 02-03 Lancer was known as the Lancer Cedia, which was the tuning basis for the current Evo(s). Suspension components are common with some Lancers, but, the Mirage is very different in chassis.

For the US mirage, the chassis is pretty much the same since the 3g mirage/colt/summit HB and sedan days. It just the suspension pieces are a bit different.

97-02 US mirage coupe & 97-01 US mirage sedan = 96-00 oversea lancers.

Sometimes, lancers sedan in some countries are called Carisma. Coupes can be either labelled as lancer or mirage while the HB version is completely mirage.

The Cedia Lancer in JPN came out around the middle of 01. If the car looked like the current Lancer, it's the same no matter the brand rebadge.

From the past gen US mirage to the modern lancer, it's only a tad closer on the ES side, not LS or OZ (much more different).

Thanks, your the man. You always find a way to say what I want better. Check out the 4G64 thread, and school these guys. They don't seem to think I know what I'm talking about.

^^^^

that's a very confusing thread on the G64. I'll save it for last before I go to bed.

It's the same thing we went through when the Outlander came out sporting the same chassis as the Lancer and a 4G64.
