No-CEL header?

Since our oxygen sensor is so close to the block, do you think anyone will ever make a header that doesn't cause SES?

Thoughts, comments, opinions?

Any secrets?

This is important, because now in Ohio if your car throws a CEL, you fail emissions testing. I really don't want to be removing the header all the time.

Which header do you have? Kamikaze or RRM or another? And is it true that when you put on a header, you take off the cats?

It's true that you remove A cat. There are two. One is in the header, the second is the large thing behind the downpipe.

Will you still pass emissions with an aftermarket header?

you probably will not pass emissions at all, even tho you might not throw a CEL, u'll definately fail... its cuz the stock exhaust manifold is attached to the Primary Cat that is removed by replacing it with an aftermarket header

I have the RPW header.

It does remove the first cat but since there is no emissions testing here I cannot confirm if the car will pass/fail.

My RPW header didn't trigger anything either. It finally went off when I had my car disconnected overnight at a show. But that also triggered an error with my emanage so I think the CEL is more due to the disconnected battery than the header itself. I had mine on for over a year with no error.

I had the the A cat removed and installed a header about 1 year ago. Immediately the CEL went on. This can be solved by installing a CEL fix or MIL eliminator available at miliminators.com or on the kamikaze header web site. You install this on the O2 sensor closest to the exhaust and you CEL is gone. I am very happy with the result. Probably takes 30 minutes to install

I paid around $300 shipped for mine from ozbots a long time ago. The race design header (which wadad and I both have) retails for over $400 though.

When I installed my Header I extended the wires from the first o2 sensor and installed it in the down pipejust before the cat, and the second one after the cat, no CEL.

Someone told me if you flip the second cat around backwards, it will put the second sensor after the cat, giving it a different reading than the first, tricking it into thinking it's the precat. Not sure if this works, but it still won't be emissions legal.

I thought the o2 sensor wire is too short to flip the cat around?
