RRM Short RAM Install Concerns

Hi,

I am new to this, and I just installed an RRM short ram intake in my 03 Lancer Auto. During the install process, I dented (and caused some fairly minor damage to) my honeycomb screen on the MAS. Also, I don't think my kit came with the right bolts, as I was only able to get two bolts in the new flange (I installed them diagonally). It is still a tight connection, and I did not notice any obvious leaks. Will these two things cause any major problems with the car? Also, instructions I read say that the heat shield should be bolted with the one bolt on the bottom, but it doesn't look like the heat shield is designed for this, it has no holes, and the hole there wouldn't really serve a purpose. I did drive the car and didn't notice any obvious problems. Any input is appreciated...

Thanks!

Check my registy I have a pick of how it should looked installed.

As long as your car is running fine, hopefully everything should be fine also.

About the heatshield, I have no idea why its on the bottome and stuff, it's like totally opposite. Maybe you can drill out the other 2 holes a bit bigger?

That sucks man. You might want to drill the hole so it will be supported on the bottom... or take it back and exchange it. I had no problems putting mine on as far as bolt size is concerned?

If it's working, great. I guess you didn't damage the MAS enough to cause problems. Maybe get 2 more bolts to make the seal good, make sure you have the heat shield on the right way, and you're set.

What kind of problems should I be looking out for? How will I know if I damaged it too bad? I don't think I did, but I want to be sure.

As far as the heat shield being on right, according to the pictures i've seen it looks perfectly fine, it's fairly obvious how it should go on, it just doesn't look like it's supposed to be bolted, there are no holes, and it actually doesn't even line up with any if there were. It looks like it's just supposed to be held on between the filter and flange like TURBOit said, that's how it is, and it seems fine.

the heat shield comes with that rubber piece, you put it around the hole for support

really? That's usually caused by one of two reasons...

1, incorrectly installed
2, extra lead in the foot due to mods

It is probably a combination of several things. I'm sure my lead foot did get a little heavier, but the honeycomb issue does kinda worry me... it's not horribly damaged though... how much of an effect on my milage would this have? I would hate to buy a new sensor and have that not be the problem...
