What muffler should I get?

Ok so I'm looking at upgrading my stock muffler. I haven't seen any catbacks for the 04 Lancers yet (Can't really afford a catback at the moment anyway) so I've decided to just get the muffler. What are some of your opinions on them? One that doesn't sound "ricey".

Question answered already - there aren't any catback systems for the 04s yet. And depending on the stock exhaust piping you might not even need to get a catback done. When I did some homework on my girl's car (galant) I realized it came with stock 2 1/4" piping so we went with a matching sized canister. There was no need to increase the size of the piping.

Definite on the Magnaflow. You might want to contact Performance Peddler about pricing though. They have been selling the '02-'03 catback for $305...so you might save some $ by going thru them.

If they got the Magnaflow cat back for the 04's then get that. I've got one on my 03 Lancer and love it.

well if your looking for the muffler itself, i've driven cars with tenzo r, apexi, and magnaflow mufflers. they all sound nice and deep. check into those if your worried about buying a no name brand. also make sure the pipping is done right, otherwise it'll sound terrible.

Since their are no catbacks for the 04 yet, I would just get one of the ones mentioned above and have a muffler shop custom pipe it from the cat using 2.25 or 2.5"

if i were to get the magnaflow muffler, catback or axleback, what would it sound like? i want the sound to be very similar to the WRX they have without the resonator or silencer. it sounds like a damn v8, if i can get the muffler to sound like that and not the eclipse exhaust i will be all about it. eclipse sounded like rice. i have an 02.
