intake mani or throttle body?"
intake mani or throttle body?"
I was thinking of making my car less restrictive, and getting items bored out, polished, just making things more free flowing. Now im considering getting the throttle body bored (RRM) or the intake mani from (RRM). What do you think i should go with and why? what will help me the most? what is easier to install?
the TB would prolly be the easiest to install...but i would think you would gain more from the Intake Manifold, personally im getting both but if i had to pick one, id prolly get the IM.
i'd personally go with the IM. the stock 55mm TB isn't that small for our engine.
EDIT: i retract my statement. a 4g94 TB is 55mm while the RA 4g69 is 60mm. but i still believe 55mm is adequate at this point. if you've seen RRM's pic of a stock IM, you'd see that the IM is a bigger restriction.

electr0: I've heard you can install the intake manifold from RRM by yourself (or with a friend). I heard you just need to keep a close eye on where everything goes, and take pictures if you can.
But don't take my word for it, I don't have that part yet, it's just what I've seen some other members on this form report.

labor costs for a shop are around $70+ an hour, so i really wouldnt do that. It will be a difficult install but thats just cause of all the parts and pieces. Wouldnt you feel beter if you installed it yourself? but yeah i heard the IM is a very restrictive part, in any car for that matter.
You should get the TB from RRM, and while they are shipping it to you, take off the intake manifold and have a local machine shop port and polish it. If you take it off yourself you should save some labor money, and it may be cheaper than getting the RRM intake manifold. Not to mention you would save on shipping expenses.
The installation of the intake manifold has been reviewed, and it's the consensus that it's not very difficult, just very time consuming.

I would go with the above statements supporting the intake manifold because it's the easiest install, but both of those parts truly shine when paired with each other, so you might want to look into getting one now and the other later.

pm me if you need any help with doing the intake manifold as i did it with a friend in about 6 hours. its not that hard as it is time consuming. dookie you know how to contact me.
if you can afford to get both at the same time i would do so becuase not only would it make a world of difference, it would also be much easier so that you don't have to rip stuff apart twice. personally, since i did, i would get the intake manifold first.
