Ok here's the scoop

Here's my plan, with one final question. When it comes to my 05 exhaust here's my plan:

rpw race headers/downpipe
RRM high flow cat (don't want to lose too much low end torque)
rrm's axle back exhaust.

***I want everything to be as simple (AKA BOLT UP) as possible, will the above set up cover me? Or am I missing some gaps? Thanks again guys. Take care.

unless u plan to use the stock mid-pipe then yea u got everything
if not then instead of the axel back get the catback from rrm or where ever

the RRM high flow cat doesn't bolt up to 04-05 lancers. that part of the exhaust is different from the 02-03

if he got the rpw header, than the HFC cat should be a fine add on. he will need something to take the place of the cat if he gets a header designed for the 02-03.

ok so it seems I'm all ok except for the mid pipe length. RRM (nor anyone, as far as I know) sells a catback for 05 es. any other thoughts?
thanks again!

CUSTOM. get yor header, go to a shop and get a custom header back.

The downpipe of the 04+ is welded to the second cat, which is why the high flow wont bolt up. You would have to cut and have a flange welded at an exhaust shop, or get your hands on an 02-03 downpipe. From what ive seen the 02-03 downpipe would bolt up to the stock header, and leave u with a flange on the other end. Should work, when i got my header on i noticed the downpipe ended right before the cat started.

Not to be mean, but what part of RPW header didn't you understand?

The RPW has it's own downpipe...

 missed it sorry, guess i was thinkin too fast. Well if thats the case, wouldnt the RPW bolt up to the RRM high flow. As long as he put both on at the same time there shouldn't be a problem. Oh and 1 more thing, the RRM axleback hangs low on 04+, fyi. This is just thoughts, in attempt to be helpful.. be gentle:D .

this might help him out too https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ght=RPW+header

Blacksheepdj Dec 13, 2005 10:36 AM

Yeah, the RPW header/DP and RRM HFC should mate perfectly. So he just needs to slap on a catback and he'll be rockin'.

03RallyLancer Dec 13, 2005 09:30 PM

we would have to get someone in here that knows... but i thought rpw ended in 2.5? or is theirs 2.25 also?

rhyzin Dec 13, 2005 09:50 PM

nope. RPW piping is 2.5". the RRM is 2.25". but in terms of everything fitting under the car, yeah it fits fine unless exhaust mounting points have changed.

03RallyLancer Dec 13, 2005 09:53 PM

then instead of changing sizes... through out your exhaust 2.5-2.25-stock-2.25 why not just get a high flow cat from rpw and then get a custom exhaust to match... it will cut down on your pipe changes... and you dont loose that much low end... im running rrm header, buschur dp, buschur hfc, and buschur catback

rhyzin Dec 13, 2005 10:02 PM

nice setup. your setup is much more ideal and is what people should be gunning for.

if someone would get their ass down to RNR in socal, they said they were interested in making a 2.5" exhaust. our only supplier of 2.5" WAS buschur. no more.

03RallyLancer Dec 13, 2005 10:07 PM

well if i would have planned my setup more i would have gone rpw header/dp with buschur hfc, and catback... but when i got it, i wasnt as learned about rpw as i am now, which is why i try to get their name out as much as possible and when the chance presents its self
