there's a tube running from the corner of your valve cover back to the intake, it recirculates gasses that accumulate back into the ingine to be burned. You use a filter like this if you take that tube off, for say, a turbo...

Would you need to buy two of them(one for the valve cover and one for the intake)????

you don't need 2 because you are losing the feed back into the intake

so is the thing on the side of the valve cover expelling air or drawing it in?

it goes from the valve cover to the intake. The intake actually creates a vacuum to draw the gasses out

the filter is so you aren't venting the gasses straight to the atmosphere, it would cause your engine to get dirty if it wasn't piped back in to the intake, or if there is no filter on it

So what do you use to cover up the intake hole (The part where the valve cover hose should attach to the intake)?

it gives you no power, but like a reg filter intake... it just makes a grunt sound when you press on the gas.

it makes no noise, and has virtually no effect for power, ur just keeping hot dirty air from being sucked back in to the intake.
