First Warranty Work done with all my mods....
Well, I have to admit I was a bit nervous. After everything I've heard/read on here about how mitsu voids your warranty if you look at the car wrong, i thought for sure they would charge me for the warranty work it needed. There was the recall on the cooling fan controller, so the dealership called me and asked if I would like to set up an appoinment for them to replace it - under warranty. I agreed and also mentioned that I needed my 15,000 mile service done. So I took the car, a little nervous about what they would say when they lifted the hood. I have a RRM header, AEM CAI, RRM strut bar and grounding kit. Well, I got the car back with no problems and the whole replacement was covered under warranty. Perhaps they didn't notice or perhaps they ignored it since I wasn't the one asking for the work done. But so far, I've had good luck with the dealership. The real test is yet to come. I am starting to have trouble getting into second gear and want to take it to the dealership and have them look at it. I do have a short shifter as well. What do you all think, should I be safe? or should I replace all my aftermarket with the stock stuff when I take it in?
Warranties are voided based on the dealership's recommendations. It's their choice whether they report the modifications to corporate, so it's their choice whether to give you a hassle. While MMC may be strict, it ultimately comes down to whether or not the dealership even notifies them of any changes. For something like a recall they'd really be pushing the line if they complained about modifications. However, that doesn't mean they did not note all of your modifications in case of future warranty claims. Similarly it doesn't mean they did note them either. Just something to keep in mind.
i've heard from people that dealers really dont give you a problem if there is a recall. warranty is totally different though when it comes to modifications. well its good to see mitsu fixing recalls even though some mods are done.
I had my sunroof stop working .. they had to replace the motors and whatnot... they ended up covering under warranty. I was worried about not getting it covered because of my mods .. but I didn't have any issues.
The service guys kept telling me that I've done a nice job on the car and didn't say anything. I asked about mods on the car, guy just shrugged his head and said no worries.
that doesn't mean they didnt make note of them however .. as I know they popped the hood which they didnt need to.

But the real test is yet to come.
