Finally went to track tonight....

....and it sucked. First off it was raining tonight and we went after it stopped raining and when we get there, they tell me that i cant run without long pants. Instead of driving 30 minutes home, i just go to walmart which was 15 minutes away and bought a $8 pair of gay runnners pants (cheapest thing i could find). Finally we get there and i get in line and then a car leaks fluids all over the track and they have to shut it down to clean it up which took about a half hour. They then reopen the lanes and two runs later some crappy mustang blows its crap everywhere and then it takes over an hour to clean the track. By this time it was 10:40PM and the track closes at 11PM so i only had time for two runs.

This was my first time ever running at the track and i was a little nervous, especially since i am not the best of drivers. Tonight, it was like 80degrees and it was humid as crap. First run was against a turbo 1g laser with a few bolt ons. My launch wasnt that bad, but he took me off the line bc my reaction time was so bad bc i was nervous. I start to real him in pretty good and then i miss my shift into 3rd and then when i finally get it into gear, i accidentaly put it into 5th gear. So then i downshift into 3rd gear and during all this, he passes me and i get a crappy time.

The second run was against some nitrous late80s civic and he goes too far so he has to back up and then took too long so they gave me the green light and made him stay. This time my launch wasnt quite as good, a little too much wheel sping, but not too bad. However, i try to shift into 2nd and i get LOCKED OUT!!! Of all times for it to happen, why did it have to happen tonight. Obviously got a crappy time, even worse than the first and it was my 2nd and last run.

So through all this i wasted a lot of time, $15 track fee, $8 for flamer pants, and got seriously pissed. I hope to go again next week. Everybody had slow nights, but this isnt an excuse for my crappy driving and the weakness of the lancer. Here are the times, its embarassing but im posting it anyways bc NOBODY EVER DOES:

---------------My 1st run------My 2nd Run
R/T ------------ .920-------------.864
60' -------------2.567------------2.499
330-------------6.733------------7.379
1/8-------------10.532----------11.172
MPH------------64.00------------65.58
1000-----------13.707----------14.302
1/4---------16.359----------16.937
MPH------------84.27------------87.32

I am not happy, thank God all i have is the rrm nonIC turbo and rrm headers, tires were 205/40/17 kumho ecsta supra 712s.

ouch mike....but hey look it was your 1st time. you had no one there helpin with advice. look at it is a learnin curve. if it happens again i will have to seriously come down and show you what is up...lol and it sounds like everything was against you to begin with

just bring spare change of pants lol

if it makes you feel any better the last time i was at the track. this chick from NY in a auto like stock camaro was runnin right...she got a bunch of runs in and they just kept gettin worse every time....think the last run she like went and wouldn't even floor it, top speed was like 43 mph

and as long as you get better that is all that matters..improvement is the key

the first time i went to the track, my car almost died off the line. i could hear the announcer on the radio say, "the car should've died, but look, he's going." and i mis-shifted 2 out of 3 runs. my one clean run of the day was granny shifting pulling a 17.2.
