Haha, another OZ question

I think we should start another directory on the board, the "Land of OZ." Anyhow, for any of you Lancer buffs out there, I was wondering if the chassis is the same on the U.S. version, the OZ, and a Japanese version, like the EVO VII. Now before all you future EVO owners jump down my throat, I am not an idiot. I know quite a bit about cars and am a Mech. engineer. I realize the EVO is AWD, the OZ is FWD. I realize the OZ has a rubber-band of an engine copared to the EVO. I want to know about the chassis, the frame, or unit body as it were. ARe the suspension pick up points the same? I own an OZ, and I can attest to its ability to roll and slosh through corners. I was wondering if it could be possible to mimic the handling of an EVO, granted traction could never be matched. I mean, if the overall car is very similar, new coil overs, some much needed bigger sway bars, and some strut towers would make it into a decent front driver....Power will be addressed after I know the chassis can handle it, hehe...

OZ Edition...
No AWD
No Turbo
"Not as good as an EVO"

NO ****!!!....lol

I believe the suspension pick up points are the same, but the Evo chassis has more welds that stiffen the chassis. It's rediculously stiffer than an OZ chassis. I read an article where it stated that the door alone had 200 more spot welds than a regular Lancer.

That aside, I'm sure with some suspension work you could have a blast around corners. I think handling is way more important that hp... it's very hard to get a suspension setup right. It actually takes a lot more money than you think because there's so much trial and error involved.

I'm pretty sure the same suspensions that fit an Evo will fit your car so you could look into those... maybe even get an Evo suspension from a stripped out rally car.

I would look into a set of Kosei K1 Wheels... super light and cheap, too. Get some Kumhos and you'll have yourself a ball
