Rust spots

i have an 03 silver lancer i bought in july of 03 and i have little spots of rust in at least 3 spots on my car. the guy at mitsu chipped it off with his finger and said to get touch up paint. I was tempted to choke him. i didn't. then he told me something like it has to rust down to the metal whatever that means. So what can I do here. complain to mitsu corp? any suggestions

Did you authorize the dude to chip it off with his finger? If not then you have grounds for a lawsuit against that dealer. Threaten them with a lawsuit and they just might fold to your demands.

They did the same thing with me, but I didn't have any rust, on the side skirt on the psgr side of the car, there is some paint that is peeling off, not chipping or anything, peeling, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that it's defective, I went to the dealer and argued with them for about 45 minutes, in the end of things they told me to go and by some touch up paint. If I remember correctly the paint is covered up to 50000 miles (I think don't quote me on it) and like 3 years or something like that. But now the dealer sold the Mitsubishi side to a different dealer. I still have yet to talk to the new dealer to see if maybe they will cover it. I just don't understand why you would have a warranty on anything if you won't cover the damn thing. (I know it's not the dealer's warranty it's Mitsu's but the point still stands)

I had the same problem on my passenger side side skirt. The paint was peeling off. I took it to mitsu and they took off the side skirt and repainted it and refit it to the car under warranty. They also detailed my car inside and out free of charge before returning it to me. I suggest complaining and saying that its under warranty. If they refuse to fix, then get a lawyer. Don't yell or get carried away with them, it won't help. Just leave quietly and call your lawyer. It hits them a lot harder when you show up with a subpeona without warning.
