Question Piggyback?

I am curious about the piggy back units on Road Race's website. Are the effiective and worth the money?

I heard its nice but it has a flaw, which is why im holding off on it till a later time, you have to use premium gas. I dont know where you guys are from but that **** cost 2.70 a gallon in SoCal.

Well, that's the whole flaw with any performance mod like that. The only way you are going to get away from having to run high octane fuel is with something along the lines of an Emanage, where you can have different maps for the different fuels

engine mods increase performance, not fuel economy. That seems to be almost always sacrificed for performance.

What it has is something that I noticed from day one. I was told it would go away after the learning curve period. Well I waited for this learning curve for 2 months and guess what...by that time it was too late to return so RRM said they would retune it for me. After shipping it back twice they still can't seem to get the "flaw" out of the system. I guess I don't know what I am talking about and this is just the way it is supposed to work.

I wouldnt mind sacraficing the miles per gallon part. Its when im going to be sacraficing it and paying 45 cents a gallon more to fill up that makes me question if I want it or not.

Gas in FL has gone down a few cents to 2.17 or there abouts. It's not too bad here and I have gotten used to paying for 93. I can't imagine living in CALI and paying $2.70 I hope they pay you higher wages over there.

Oh don't forget you can used 91. That is what the PB is made for. Only a few stations here carry 91 so I just stick with the 93.

It's been said time and time again that the piggyback requires you to run premium gas all the time. That's a definite yes that you will be paying the 45+ cent per gallon more.

For initial cost effectiveness and ease I'd say the piggyback is the clear choice, but in the long run an adjustable unit like the e-manage will be more effective (learn to tune yourself or have a shop tune it) and cost less (in terms of $ saved in gas prices). That's why I went with the emanage in the first place.
