Ok... you guys need to lay off the kid a bit. I think he knows better then to do random peel outs and brag about doing 120 on a highway. That said, all of us have done it before. Admit it, you know you have.

All of us learned not to do it but that's something that comes with age and experience. We should be sharing our knowledge with this guy not beating him up for acting irresponsable. It is better that he stay in this community and learn a bit about the car and driving rahter then having him seek out ricers and street racers to advise him... you only get two things from hanging with that crowd anyway, higher insurance premiums or dead.

LancerM, don't take what has been said too harshly. Most of the guys on these boards, including these guys, are just looking out bro. Be safe out there and better yet be smart. Welcome to the boards.

I'd like to see you say that when he's doin 120 on the highway and loses control of his car, which is definately not stable at those speeds, and hits you or your family. Cut the crap man. You could kill someone. If you're gonna drive that fast, go somewhere where you're allowed to....

And what you are telling me is that you have never speed in you car, ever? Whether it be 20 over the speed limit or 50 it is all illegeal and dangerous, that I know, but that is besides the point I was trying to make. In defence of myself, I wasn't in anyway making allowences for the kid but trying to point out that you guys are ripping him a new one for no reason. Being redundent and restating what has been said isn't at all very effective.

Now that the kid knows better, and that it has been reiterated about ten times by different people, he gets the point.

I feel, as I stated, that instead of alienating this kid we need to pull him in and educate him. Let's not make the kid feel stupid for his mistake, that we have all been guilty of at one time or another. It has been said, "take it to the track." Let's all just remember that we were kids once too, and some of us are still.

Kids can kill people to, stop trying to condone his actions. And as far as him getting the point? I seriously doubt it. He hasn't even responded to this, and i'm sure he checked it and saw all the negative responses and said to himself "screw these guys, i'm outa here"
Burnouts are dumb, but no one is likely to get hurt. Theres no problem with him enjoying doing burnouts. But 120 mph is just plain stupid.

Did I ever say that I approve or condone his actions? Do me a favor, read the entire thread, pay specific attention to my posts and then point out where I said that I was in approval of his actions.

I am in total agreement with you that driving at high speeds on public roads is a bad idea. I am in total agreement that burnouts are a bad idea. I am total agreement with most of what you and everyone else has said here. Where I differ is clear, let us not alienate people for their mistakes but rather, in a mature manner, point out their missteps and guide them to a better path. Calling the kid stupid, or dumb or immature, while it may very well be the case, does nothing to demonstrate that we are any better, any less stupid or dumb or more mature. See my point?

the only things i see wrong here are:

1. he didnt pay for the car so obviously he has no respect for it.
2. someone who doesnt know what theyre car is capable of shouldnt be going that fast without the proper knowlege

as for the people arguing whether or not they approve of his actions or not, keep your morals to yourself and let him learn the hard way

Agreed 100%

Him learning the hard way involves him hurting himself, his car, or others... I'm totally not feeling that. He needs to just read up and learn about safe driving and that tracks are there to be a controled environment for driving fast.

OK, am I the only rational one?

Yes, what he did was wrong.
No, you don't need to have 20 people going "dude, you're a dumbass."
Yes, he's probably ignored everything we've said.
Yes, he's going to have to learn on his own.
Yes, it's quite possible he may hurt people doing that.
No, we can't stop him.
No, Fox isn't stupid. He's just pointing out that if you scream "you're an idiot!" at someone, they'll probably ignore you.
