Another Riced Thread

I like how they bash about doing something apparently one-sided like putting on show mods when in fact they do the exact same thing to their cars by specializing in suspension/drift mods. The second I realized I was on an intial d forum I couldn't help but think of how many of those people look like the wanna be asian white guy from "not another teen movie".

Yes, it is me, Sobær, the one who wrote that thread. Now that everyone has spoken and called me this and that, let me correct a few things.
First off, I'm not some kid that's into Initial D. I used to be, but grew out of it, whatever. I do want to thank clkwrk for pointing out that I wasn't one of those kids. The only reason I post there is because I'm not just another newbie, and I am already well known and loved there. There are some really good people there. I won't list names, but they do exist, as they do in almost every community.
Now, I can agree that calling something rice is immature, and saying that, I call myself immature. BUT at the same time, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. I just choose to voice mine. My definition of rice is simple. It's a state of mind. Take that as you will. That owner very well could of been a hardcore racer at heart, I don't know. And I don't mean street racer by the way. But for entertainment purpopses, I find a car on car domain, and exploit it as a riced car. Some people there at IDW have a problem with it, yes, but I don't care. It's a forum. There's going to be jerks, and things you don't like. It's a fact.
And finally, yes, I admit. I don't like the regular Lancers. IN MY OPINION (meaning don't bash me for saying this) they are not sporty, nor anything pleasent to look at. BUT, to each there own.
As long as you enjoy your car, that's all that TRUELY matters.Peace, kids.
Look, I'll say this. I was never a big fan of the EVO kits on any car (especially our lancers), and body kits in general, but what I consider rice is either full-on representation of something a vehicle is not, or poor execution of a mod. That's my definition. Arguably, that Lancer in the post was representing itself as an EVO, but I will say that I've seen much much worse, where the owner had put EVO badges, vinyls, etc on the car. Even disliking the EVO kit, I have to say it was very well executed, and looks seamless. I wish half the people who put body kits on their car had as much quality in the execution as that car so that we could have less eyesores on the road.
Although, again, seriously, let's stop getting offended by the internet pissing matches. Yes, the "you should have bought an EVO" thing is annoying to the extreme, but the US Lancer is no worse (in my opinion a fair bit better) than your average EX Civic, in which case you don't rebuke an Integra driver for not spending the extra cash to get an NSX. I'll say this, I went from a US Lancer to an 04 Civic Si. If I paid attention to half the internet jive, I wouldn't ever be content with any car. Anywhere you go, someone will hate what you have and what you do. Deal.

I agree with the poor mods thing. But the fact that he did it for attention, while that's not rice, I do find it retarded. Just my opinion again. Just because it was nicely executed, as you say (which I agree again, at least it was painted and installed properly, instead of just slapped on with primer or less.) doesn't make it that less rice to me. Technically, I usually don't consider a lot of the cars I post rice. I call it rice in the topic for general.. what do you call it.. just so people know what to expect, there.
But thanks for answering like an adult.
It gets annoying hearing people b*tch without reason.

I find the whole idea of telling people "you should of just bought this car" ridiculous, especially to the point of calling their car "rice" because they didn't buy the next one up. Thats like telling someone, "why bother eating if you can't afford fillet mignon?". Its an ignorant comment. If we continued like this, every car would be rice except for ferraris, bugattis etc. I agree that trying to turn your car into something its not is rice, or claiming that mods do something when really they just add weight is rice, but simply not having the money, desire, or in my case, the car not existing in my country, to get the higher model? Jeez guys grow up.
Haha. I can't access the thread because there server is expierancing problems, otherwise I'd re-read what I said.. but I don't recall ever saying to buy the next one up.. <_< I could of, but I don't remember saying it. If I did, what I ment was with what he spending on his car and planning on doing to it and yaddie yaddie. <_<
not to upset anyone but do you guys honestly see a car on the road with altezza lights, a full blown body kit with more curves then the average fat woman and underbody lighting and not go "god thats dumb"?

Once again just my opinion, and I love it for a daily commuter car. Just not a race car.
well lets see, i would have loved to been able to buy an Evo. Obviously i couldnt afford one and i didnt want a Civic, although i do like accords for the family value of course. My OZ has proved alot of things to me. When i bought it i was originally looking for a 3g but every where i went at the time seemed not have that good of a selection. I saw mine in the show room, with aftermarket wheels on it and it looked sweet. As the man said to each his own. I fell in love with my car when i took in on a road rally "first one ever" over the angelest crest through Mt High, the Cajon pass, 2 years ago in nasty rains and black Ice. I almost lost the car twice and it more or less corrected its self. Racing school and Police defensive driving im sure at least kept me from doing the wrong thing. @nd was when i raced a guy over the Ortega highway and basically forced him to pull over i was on him so bad. I have plans for my car, and if and when im done, some may say it was a waste, or even call it rice, but hey It's mine, i like it, and if they wanna call it rice, so be it. Thanks for Noticing i'll say. No need to get angry or offended. If i worried about everyones opinion I'd be in real bad shape 32 years later LOL. How could a Billion Rice eaters be wrong )))))
