Stock parts on an OZ Rally

I just bought an '03 OZ Rally. I'm not familiar with what comes stock on these cars. The car has RMR intake, exhaust, and front strut brace. I'm pretty sure it's all aftermarket, but i just wanted to know for sure. Are there any other basic upgrades that should be done, before i start doing anything else? (For example, my Impala had a "U-Bend" in the middle of the exhaust line that pretty much everyone has removed before anything else, because it kills the flow of the exhaust.) Thanks in advance.

the intake exhaust and front strut bar are in fact all aftermarket. Anything labeled RMR is a dealer option, anything else, is not.

If you go to the RMR website you will see that only a few mitsu dealers were authorized to sell their parts. www.rmrproducts.com

It was an option when I bought my car in 2002, but thank goodness I bought my own stuff. Financing those things would probably have made a simple intake $250. Don't even talk about how their axel back was $550, not sure about it now.

as for you question about removing some parts, The Down pipe is very restrictive. and i would also suggest removing a cat or getting a HighFlow cat to stay legal. There are 2 cats, one before the downpipe and one after. All of the headers for sale remove the first cat before the downpipe.

They weren't really an "option". Some Mitsubishi dealers sold and installed RMR products, so they often created special packages just to help sell their cars.

So there are two cats on this car? Would that still be true if the dealer put the RMR exhaust on it? I'll have to get under the car and look, once there's no snow on the ground. And thanks for the advice on the downpipe.

yes there are 2 cats, and the RMR exhaust is only axel back, so it won't remove either of them.

Correct, 1 is before the downpipe( after the headers) and the other is after the downpipe ( before the piping to your axel back

There was also an RMR Edition, was there not?

what's the reason for 2 cats on the lancer? can i safely remove one of them without any major negative effects on emissions?

Yes, you probably can. I think it's just a "two is better than one" deal. Hell, Subaru's have 3 cats.

You can put on a header and still be OK emission wise. Or get a test pipe and replace that part. But if you get both, you'll just be shoving dirty air out the back.

Personally, I went with header/high flow cat - so I basically have 0.5 cats right now.
