changing shift...
whats up everyone.... this my first time posting here but ive been around reading those threads........ i dont know if its just me having this problem but here it goes: when ever im changing shift after the 1st gear, specially when i go up to 4500rpm, then change gear to 2nd it feels like its locking up...... i had this problem when i had my stock shifter but even after i installed the b&m shifter(the one were you can choose between 30% or 45% diff in throw) it still has the same problem......also up to what speed you guys used the 1st gear before you change gear?????? lastly do you guys put back your gear to 1st when ever you are running like let say down to 10mph does it also sometimes lock up if ever you do it????? ....... any suggestion would be appreciated...... i believed that i would get decent answer with this forum........ thanks in advance
Don't try to shift into 1st unless you're stopped. It's not synchronized, so it won't like being used unless from a standing start.
As for the locking up, what do you mean? Is it hard to get the stick into 2nd gear? Is it biting too hard when you release the clutch? And finally, if it's a new car, it might just be stiff like mine and my friend's was when it was new.

I actually had the car now for a year but i did change the shifter just 2 months ago.... well yah its hard to put it down to second gear sometimes but most of the time it go's fine the only thing is that i hear a clicking sound.....
what is that syncros????? well i did brought this thing to the dealer before when i still have the stock shift but they said it was ok so I thought that its just normal thats why im posting here to check if somebody else have the same prob(or maybe not a prob)...

Basically, something that matches the revs of the engine to the drivetrain when you shift. On the Lancer, 2nd through 5th gear has it, but 1st doesn't, hence why you don't want to shift into it while moving.
Yeah like urbanknight has said, don't shift into first unless your going very very slowly, or just not moving. Just outta interest, how long have you been driving stick? That way we can know that its the car, and not simply the driver.

i know what he is talking about, my car does the same thing, but mine only seems to do ti when it is cold, it is like the the slot does not want to accept the shifter when you go to put it in gear, you pretty much have to force it in sometimes, but mine only seems to do it when the car is cold, and i know i am not the problem, i have never even owned a automatic car, other then the one my name is on that my wife drives
well ive been driving shift since i got my car so its more than a year now that ive been with a manual shift..... sometimes i release the clutch too fast before i even change gear so what happen is that you hear this weird sound, is that BAD???????
