You may recall that the CEO of Mitsubishi said:
Now cars.com is reporting, in their new 2002 Auto Show coverage, the following about the Detroit Auto Show:

I wonder what those two NA debuts will be?
Hmmm....
Everybody who goes to the Detroit Auto Show, please take a whole hell of a lot of pics and post them on these message boards. We can never have too many pics of one of those "mystery" vehicles.
In the U.S., we had the Lancer this year. Next year, Airtrek and Lancer Evolution. And then in fiscal 2003, there will be three models.
In addition, Mitsubishi promises the world debut of one concept vehicle and the North American debuts of two other vehicles.

i went to a mitsu dealer and he told me that the EVO will debut in the L.A. auto show January 4th and he gave me 3 tickets to the show and assured me that it will debut there... so we will have to see.....
Carpoint just updated their Detroit Auto Show preview and there still is no sign of the Lancer Evolution.
They say Mitsubishi will show 3 concepts, and Carpoint says nothing about production models.
