header.....as this is your most restrictive part....your stock DP should be fine ...tho there are little gains to be had with the DP...header first

thats just what rrm says, however, ask anyone who has gone with an upgraded dp or header/dp combo and they'll say differently. have you ever taken the dp off and looked at it? it is far more restrictive than you could imagine.

Ah, the party line.

That is rubbish. The downpipe was my first exhaust mod, and it made a big difference. Going from 0.5" up to 2.5" makes a difference. Buschur even proved it on the dyno.

The header will give larger gains, but costs about double. So decide what you want to spend.

Less low-end torque, more high-end horsepower.

Intake parts give better low-end, exhaust mods give better high-end power.

RPW is running a sale on thier race design headers WITH downpipe: $480 shipped. Call vision Imports at 407.923.3966 between Noon and 6PM Eastern time. This is a killer combo RPW extended the Sale through Feb. Here's the thread:

Here's RPW's site: http://www.rpw.com.au
and vision Imports, for good measure: http://www.visionimports.com

It also depends on the size DP you install.... if you go "wyde opennnn yo!" with the 3" (or even 2.5") you're killing your scavenging. I noticed quite a difference when I installed my 2.25" DP. These cars are so torquey (at least mine is) that if I'm losing a couple TQ, I'm not noticing.
And part of the RPW design is that they aid scavenging by increasing the length of the runners before they merge... it's a good design. And you then need their DP because the stocker won't fit anmore.

I know it's Import Tuner but...... http://www.importtuner.com/tech/0205it_pplancer/

I'm out!!

Since no one will hunt in the link...

With the complete exhaust system flowing at its maximum, the entire powerband shifted upwards, which means, in layman's terms, that more power would be available at an earlier point in the powerband. Specifically, the extreme low and mid/high to high rpm ranges experienced the most benefit, with increases as high as 7 or 8 hp. Torque also increased with a less dramatic falloff in the high rpm range--this translates into more "pull" for the vehicle at its high-end powerband. Peak horsepower checked out at 111.9 hp, while the torque peaked out at 121.6 lb-ft.

I'm more school in thought like EB, not being RPW bias here. Too big = the motor can't create enough exhaust flow to be effective.

As for Import Tuner, I'm skeptical of their dyno stuff comparing to SCC. Maybe, SCC is a bit more conservative, but Import Tuner tends to be more rosey.

How exactly is a dyno rosey? Numbers are numbers. The car was dynoed on Buschur's dyno, and the sheet is posted in the Buschur parts thread.
