Magnaflow Exhaust Questions.

I currently have a a Magnaflow exhuast on my car that I put on myself. My problem is that the damned thing doesn't sit under the rear bumper but actually hangs about 1 1/2 inches below the cutout. As far as I can tell I have the thing installed correctly. I think it might be that the furthest rear hanger allows the system to hang too low.

I have two questions concerning the exhaust:

1.) Where can I purchase a new stiffer hangers, not rubber, that will fit? I know that Kartboy makes them for the Evo but not for the Lancer.

2.) Just out of curiosity: When you received your exhaust did it come supplied with a bolt for the rear hanger? (The stock I noticed had a curved hanger that went into the rubber hangman hanger my Mangnaflow didn't and I had to fabricate bolt to fit)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You could always go to a muffler shop and have them weld on a hanger.

It's not the fact that I have to use a bolt for the hanger so much as it is the rubber peice between the muffler and the car. And the thing about is that the rubber gives too much and allows for the exhaust to hang low. It's really pissing me off. Makes my exhaust look like a limp dick.

I should also add that right now the bolt fell off. So instead of a bolt I have two zip ties holding the damn thing on. I won't have time till this weekend to go to the hardware store. So I really want to fix this problem all at the same time. Someone help me.

I used to have an OZ with the Magnaflow catback.... sounds to me like you might have the 2 hangars that support the muffler reversed. I believe they are 2 different sizes. Swap them around and see if that helps... if not, well just get an EVO

Funny, my magnaflow catback went on perfectly with no extra parts needed and hangs very well. a little encouragement towards the right and it looks and sounds awesome. You can bend the hangers a little, in case you haven't tried that yet.

I couldn't figure out what it was so I took it to the shop. The guy is changing my oil, checking my transmission fluid and while it's there he is going to take a look at the exhaust. I wonder how much he is going to charge me for eyeballing my car and fixing it in five minutes? Can anyone pass the lube cause I'm about to take it up the *** when I get this bill.

your resonator piping is probably upside down. when i installed mine i did that and had to redo it. it should be positioned so that it bends slightly up (hugs the car closer). if that doesn't fix it, i'd give magnaflow a call.

Ok so I tell the guy at the shop the deal and he tells me he'll have his guy look at it. They replace the bolt and give me my keys. Somehow I forget to look at the exhaust to see if it's sitting right.... nope all the dude did was put the bolt in. So tomorrow I'm goin going to take a look at it and try what you said Purecoda and see if it's the resonator pipe. That means putting it up on stands... I'm not looking forward to this it's cold as whoa out side.

On a related note the bastards did charge me 7.50 for labor and 2.50 for the bolt. That's at least two value meals right there.

I'll take pics too if I can steal a camera from my mom.

Ok I got the exhaust to sit under the rear bumper but the thing is still sitting way below the cutout. I wanna kill something right now. I'm irritated beyond belief.

ok try this, it worked for me, at the back end of the exhaust the left hanger, twist the black rubber piece once and put it on like that....that should raise it right up to the bumper, but not close enough to burn it... I took a pic hope that helps...

I've tried everything short of taking it off and reinstalling it. I'll look at it again this weekend and I'll try your suggestion. Hopefully it works. Here is what it looks like now... see how it's haning low not under the bumper at all?

it looks like it is sticking out a littel far too.....i have this system and mine fits nicely...but the tip is a bit smaller than the cutout......i have mine centered in the cutout so that the halfway point of my tip is level with the line on the bumper. it looks pretty clean.......
