phantom has 6 points.

point 1.... bought lancer beacuse i knew the evo was gonna cost an arm and a leg, if the ever brought it here.
point 2.... the best evo built was the VII IMO. so i am attempting to build one out of a USDM LANCER.
Point 3.... I have an entire EVO 8 Interior being shipped to me ritgh now. that includes the wires for the intercooler etc. My interior work for my evo is done.
Point 4.... Lancers are great for tuning, look at all the crap we have to do to it to make it GO!
POINT 5... EVO 8 is just another car. studying the damn thing and all the comparisons has shown that the frame is the same as a lancer except for some weld points. the body in the front is aluminum, pretty much buy the sheet metal and the tail lights and there you go EVO ***!
POINT 6.... turbos r great (i don't have one YET) but turboing an SOHC to 300hp is even better. i just wanna screw a stock STI.

in the end, the lancer is the ground work for us here in the us. it is a barebones computer in a box. all you gotta do is put it together. besides compared to the rest of the 4 doors in it's class, i can screw lying down in this one.

u could always buy a USED evo....they are on here for like 23-25k with low 20k milage all the time with mods already on them...and chances are if they are posted on this forum they are kept well.....u can get al ine of credit to buy one used and then pay off ur line of credit? are u a student? get a student loan with a lower interst rate.....then u can sell whatever u have to a private buyer and get more $$ for it than u would get for a swap at a dealer........jsut my .02......u dont have to have a new one.....

u know, the day after i bought my lancer i regretted so much... i totally got ripped off, $10000+tax and stuffs for a 04 lancer ES that had 18800 miles already and was previously owned by a darn rental company HERTZ.... I felt so freaking bad and wanted to burn the freaking dealer ( yes i was dumb enough to listen to my uncle and bought my car at mitsubishi dealer).... AND i didnt even test drive it before buying, i let my cousin test it because my uncle told me that i had no insurance yet so i couldnt test drive......and after i got the insurance i drove my lancer and i almost cried... this baby felt weaker than the civic that i used to practice driving before license test.... (i dont know the numbers but it definately felt weaker than the civic...maybe its just me...) Then i looked at one of those car magazines (forogt which one) at media play and saw the gas milage as something like 20/25 or something (yup i did no research before i went out to buy this car...all i know was the estimated price)... Man at that time all i liked about my car was the cool mystic blue color. But now, i learned to love it! im like the only person that drives a 04 lancer around my area, i have only seen 2-3 of them since november (althought ive seen at least 7 evo VIII and 2 of them were MRs) Also my color is so special that i havnt seen one single car with this color YET. And i love the tail lights, THEY HAVE NO ORAGE haha. And the interior is nicer than many other cars. sorry i didnt even realize i typed this much

if u get a lancer with 30k on it the value is so low that u wouldnt really even need collision coverage on it....my insurance is 80$ a month w/ collision. w/ a perfect driving record..... im 18........a lancer with 25-30k miles on it KBB's at about 9,000$.....if u are paying 3 grand in insurance a year plus a 1000$ deductable....thats 4 grand that u spend on a 9grand car to keep it on the road....thats stupid.....if u total ur car u can always get a civic with 100k on it for like 3-4 grand in good shape.......just dont total ur car tho and save the trouble. the point is.....there are ways to work the system to get our cars extremely low for month to month $$...80x12 mos a year = around 1100$ per year + 500$ deductable with no collision coverage = 1700$ish a year to keep my car on the road....that is sensible.
