I don't know the first thing about what to look for, so here's a free bump.

I got mine off ebay with a free knob for 25 shipped. It's great, a lot smoother shift... great product. I'd rather save my money and get an ebay one instead of the more expensive ones... they are just pieces of metal.

And if you haven't, take the money you save on the shifter and get yourself both sets of shifter bushings, too (shifter assembly base and under-hood sets). That changes the feel of the car just as much, if not more, than the short shifter. Mine came from Kartboy, and I couldn't recommend them enough.

I have an ebay short shifter and it works ok but it's nothing comparing to B&M. Spend some extra $$$ and get an adjustable one or B&M.

i've felt both b&m and megan racing; I don't know what y'all mean about WAY better. personally i like the "shortness" of the megan racing short shifter which is what it looks like in that pic. Make sure to get those bushings from kartboy like lancermarin said...they make a difference

I've got the ebay short shifter... it feels great. And what I like about it the most is that it was 100 bucks cheaper then the B&M. I got the shifter base and linkage bushings from Kartboy with thier shift knob and it still is way less then the B&M.

To all the guys that think the B&M feels better they must not have the bushings. My shift set up is stiffer then a... um... something... you fill in the blank. Stiffer then a carrot or a tuna fish sandwich for sure.

yeh the shifting w/ the short shifter is kinda stiff....get the bushings too! The base bushings should make it a lot nicer but why not just get the ones for under the hood to make it even more supurb. And if you really wanna go all out, change out the tranny fluid to Red Line MT90 and MTL. It'll make it even better!

i have an ebay short shifter. I'm waiting for my base shifter bushings and I'll change my tranny fluid to Red Line before summer hits. Happy shifting .

bushings

Thanks guys.
I went to kartboys website and I saw that they are for the evo. I take it that they are interchangeable with the 03 OZ lancer? I just want a couple of people to confirm that the combo will work with my car. By the way here is the link:

and....if u read on their site
"Replace the soft rubber shift linkage bushings in your Evolution VIII (or the standard Lancer models) with the kartboy urethane bushings, featuring Darwinspeed Technology. Amoeba green, for an eye-catching look. (Color will not enhance performance, however)"

THE top ones are the shifter bushings...they should be a total of 8.
The bottom ones are the under hood linkage bushings.
