how to pda dyno AT?
hey guys, i need a little help figuring out how to dyno my lancer (auto) with my pda dyno. i'm doing this because in the coming weeks and months, im swapping my ported 4g94 manifold for the 4g93, and swapping my kamikaze headers for rpw ones, so i want to see performance, and pass it on to you guys so you don't make buying mistakes like i did
anywho, so how do i go about it? i have all the specs (drag, weight, etc) and I have my 3rd gear ratio, so now what? i know manuals can start out in 3rd, but i can't, at least i don't think i can, so how do i do it?
i tried dynoing before, plugging in my 3rd gear ratio and going from a stop, and it read something like 600hp, which of course i thought was too low, so i want to make sure i'm doing it right

you're right, 600hp is too low. i'd read the directions and try again. I couldn't tell you how to do it cause i have no clue. I would love to pda dyno mine myself. What PDA do you have and what dyno program. I have a Manual though, I'm sure the difference couldn't be that much. but what's the drag spec. i can find the weight and my 3rd gear ration myself. but i don't know the drag spec. thanks.

well, it doesn't say anything in the directions. i don't have the specs with me, but i'm sure i could find them later on
i guess, the question is, how do you dyno an automatic on any dyno? the process should be the same, i just don't know what it is
i have a crappy handspring visor that doesn't really work (its old and broke) and the auterra dyno program. i'd recommend the auterra program and look on ebay for the cheapest, black and white compatible pda

I'm interested in this topic. I have an iPAQ Pocket PC in my car right now. Its hooked up with a GPS system so I can see where I'm at and what roads are around me if I'm in an unfamiliar town. I was looking for dyno utilities for my iPAQ or other tweaking utilities for A/F ratio.. etc. I love the HP iPAQ though. I have the model 2215.. wireless internet, bluetooth, gps, color screen, 400MHz, 64MB RAM, 512MB storage card. I would recommend an iPAQ if you upgrade.
you need to dyno in 3rd as that's equal to a 5-speed 4th. you just have to drive with overdrive off in 3rd at the lowest possible rpm you can hold 3rd with. then just hit "start run," hold the rpm for the 10 secs until it beeps, and then be on your way. you should also stop the pda before you hit redline cuz that'll mess with your readings.
are you plugging in overall 3rd gear ratio or the regular 3rd gear ratio?
what program are you using?
