Who wants to see a toasted gasket?
Finally found out why was car was making weird noises. Heres a tip, whenever you do exhaust mods, make sure you tighten the bolts after they heat up

from like idle to about 3k rpms it would make kind of a sluggish sound. like a faint farting or something. hard to explain, but it didnt sound right and my car felt slow.
good thing i decided to take it off so rrm can tap my header for this egt gauge before i toasted anything else (wastegate was also loose)

well, at least gaskets are cheap, glad you found it. this probably applies to anyone, but i bet the problem was compounded by the fact that you have a turbo

Dude that sucks... having a turbo puts more gaskets into the mix so that could mean more leaks possible. Usually i did a cold check a month. I let the car cool overnight. Then start it and start feeling around all gasket areas before things get hot. That helped me to find leaks before they went to far. Usually it was just from loosened bolts. After a few months of doing this everything was finally stress relieved so there were no more issues. Bolt's, washers, studs, flanges, etc. need to stretch and shrink with the heat. Eventually you'll get them all as tight as they can be and the expansion/contraction will be nill. Good luck and glad to see you found the problem.

while we are kinda on the topic, we all know exhaust leak in a turbo is pretty bad and can hurt your numbers pretty good, but what about n/a? if you have a gasket leak where header meets dp, or dp meets cat, how much loss are we talking about here?

gabe from roadrace gave me a new gasket for free. everything is fixed and it sounds a lot better than it did. now i can hear nothing, but straight woooosh. yea my neighbor is jealous much
Also, if you guys are running a testpipe make sure the gaskets align properly. If you don't they will be in the way of the flow of the exhaust and then you will get toasted gaskets and a leak.
On an NA car a leak in the system can dramatically drop back pressure... this in turn lowers your torque output in the lower rpm band while actually increasing the hp curve in the upper band.
Some cars come with a "bypass" valve in the exhaust... down low its closed keeping back pressure in the system by forcing exhaust thru the restrictive side of the muffler... It opens up high allowing flow out of the free flowing side of the muffler or sometimes bypassing the muffler all together. This give you the best of both worlds down low and up high.
